During this reporting period, MPS:

During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- One ticket for Use Cellular Telephone or Other Hand Operated Electronic Device While Driving which carries a fine of $672 and a three-day license suspension
- One ticket for Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
- One ticket for Speeding which carries a fine of $548
- Two tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Speeding which carries a fine of $613
August 30th, 2021
At 5:30 pm, police were dispatched to a residence to assist Morden Fire and Rescue. When police arrived on scene, they observed a detached garage fully engulfed in flames and a nearby camper trailer also on fire. The homeowner advised that everyone was out of the house and that there were no injuries. Police stayed on scene until the fire was extinguished.
At 5:40 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated individual. When police arrived the caller stated that the suspect had been intoxicated and yelling, but that he was now asleep. The suspect resided at the residence and no charges laid in this incident.
September 1st, 2021
Police were dispatched to a motel to assist ambulance with a possible drug overdose. Police attended and assisted EMS as they subsequently transported the victim to a healthcare facility for further treatment.
Police received a call from an individual reporting that they received an email from someone appearing to be their employer. The caller was asked to buy a quantity of Apple gift cards and then send them the codes. The victim eventually realized that this was a scam and contacted the provider to cancel the cards.
September 2nd, 2021
Police received a report of mischief to two trailer’s, one parked at a business and one at a residence. Police are continuing to investigate this matter.
At 3:31 pm, police received a driving complaint. The caller stated that they was driving eastbound on Thornhill Street by 13th Street, when a 2008 red GMC Acadia driving beside them swerved into their lane, cutting them off. Police located the driver of the Acadia and issued her a verbal warning.
At 10:15 pm, police received a driving complaint. The caller stated that a grey Tiburon drove past them at a high rate of speed. Police located the driver of the vehicle and issued the driver a verbal warning.
September 4th, 2021
Police attended a residence regarding a family dispute. Police assisted with mediating the situation and two family members agreed to leave the residence for the night. No charges were laid as a result of this incident.
At 2:45 pm, police were dispatched to a business regarding a male yelling at an individual inside the business. Police attended and spoke to the male who was upset at the other customer for not wearing a mask inside the business. Police advised the male to either contact the police or the Manitoba COVID tip line in situations like this.
September 5th, 2021
At 12:20 am, police observed a vehicle travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes on Highway 3 east of Morden. Police activated their emergency lights which caused the vehicle to swerve into the same lane as police. Police swerved onto the shoulder to avoid a head-on collision. The vehicle then came to a stop and police confirmed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver subsequently provided breath sample on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day vehicle impoundment along with a $700 administrative penalty. The driver was also issued a ticket for having alcohol in their blood while holding a novice driver’s license which carries a fine of $113, and a ticket for as a driver, carry liquor in a vehicle contrary to the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act which carries a fine of $237.
At 4:45 am, police were dispatched to a business regarding a domestic dispute. Police attended and learned that the suspect had thrown the victims phone on the ground and pushed her against the wall of the business. The male youth was arrested for Assault and transported to the Morden Police Service office. Once at the office, the male youth began to resist officers and attempted to punch one officer. The male youth was later released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in November, and was also issued a ticket for Possession or Consumption of Liquor by a Minor which carries a fine of $672.
At 11:45 am, police were dispatched to a residence regarding a domestic assault. Police attended and spoke to the victim who advised that her ex-husband had been yelling at her all morning and at one point threw an object at her, hitting her in the back. The 46 year-old Morden resident was arrested for Assault and released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in November.
