During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- Nine tickets for Speeding
- One ticket for Fail to Display the Correct Number and type of number plate which carries a fine of $113
- Three tickets for Operate vehicle with a number plate obstructed which carries a fine of $203
- Two tickets for Driving while Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day vehicle suspension
- Three tickets for Passing an Emergency Vehicle Engaged in Prescribed Activity While Using Emergency Equipment, Fail to Move into a Farther Lane/Comply with Speed Requirements which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Use a Cellular Telephone or other Handheld Device while Operating a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $672 and a three-day license suspension
- One ticket for Driver not Wearing a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
- Four tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Drive without valid Driver’s License which carries a fine of $298
- One By-Law ticket for parking in a no parking zone which carries a fine of $150
June 3rd, 2024
At 10:50 pm, police observed a vehicle travelling on Highway 3 with its lights off. Police conducted a traffic stop and observed an open bottle of whiskey behind the passenger seat. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a Pass. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located a bag of illegally purchased cannabis weighing a total of 327 grams, which was seized for destruction.
June 5th, 2024
At 8:15 am, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision with a pedestrian on an electric scooter. The pedestrian was travelling eastbound on the sidewalk when she was struck by a vehicle who was exiting a parking lot onto Thornhill Street. EMS arrived on scene and the pedestrian was medically cleared. Police are continuing their investigation.
At 6:05 pm, police were dispatched to a local business regarding a male and female fighting. They were located and both disclosed being assaulted by one another. They were both arrested for Assault and released on Undertakings to attend to Morden Provincial Court in August.
June 6th, 2024
At 12:30 pm, police received several reports of a suspicious female who was last seen near one of the schools. She was observed to be yelling at people and causing issues. Police located the female and issued her a warning for causing a disturbance and was released to her residence.
