During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- Three tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- Two tickets for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 along with a 30-day vehicle impoundment.
- Fourteen tickets for Speeding
- Two tickets for Display a Number Plate that does not match Registration Card which carries a fine of $113
- One ticket for Operating a Vehicle with Number Plate Obstructed which carries a fine of $203
- One ticket for Fail to Produce Licence which carries a fine of $113
- Four tickets for Failing to wear a seat belt which carries a fine of $298
- Two By-Law tickets for Parking facing oncoming traffic which carries a fine of $150
- Two tickets for Disobey at traffic control device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
- One ticket for Improper side window tinting which carries a fine of $174
- Four tickets for fail to display the number plate which carries a fine of $113
- One ticket for Use of Cellular Telephone while Operating a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $672 along with a 3-day driving suspension
September 16th, 2024
Police received a report of a stolen electric scooter. The owner reports that the bike lock was cut, and the scooter was stolen from outside his residence. Police are continuing their investigation.
September 20th, 2024
While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle. Police observed a controlled substance inside the vehicle, and the 35-year-old passenger was subsequently arrested for Failing to Comply with an Undertaking and Possession of Controlled Substance. He was released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Provincial Court in November. As well, the vehicle driver was issued a ticket for unlawfully transporting cannabis.
September 21st, 2024
Police were dispatched to a local residence for a disturbance. Police attended and located a victim with minor injuries who stated that her boyfriend had assaulted her. A 30-year-old male was arrested for assault and later released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Provincial Court in November.
September 24th, 2024
Police received two warrants of arrest for 33-year-old Norma Sawatzky for failing to attend court.
September 26th, 2024
While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle driving erratically. Police conducted a traffic stop and observed open liquor in the vehicle. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a fail reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension along with a 30-day vehicle impoundment and a $700 administration fee.
At 2:50 pm, police were dispatched to a local business regarding a male who was causing a disturbance. The male was intoxicated and acting belligerent. He was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
September 27th, 2024
At 7:00 am, police were dispatched to a suspicious male walking on 1st Street. Police attended and observed a highly intoxicated male stumbling side to side on the sidewalk. The male had nowhere to go, and he was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
At 7:20 pm, police were dispatched to a local business regarding an intoxicated male who was just leaving. Police attended and observed that the male who was highly intoxicated. He was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
At 10:50 pm, while on general patrol, an intoxicated male stopped in front of the police car while walking along the roadway. The male was highly intoxicated and was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
September 28th, 2024
While conducting an MPI check stop police conducted a traffic stop to check for licence, registration and sobriety. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.
