On April 22nd, 2026, at approximately 6:30 pm the Morden Police Service responded to
a report of an assault in progress.
Morden Police officers arrived at South Railway and Pembina Dr at which time Police
observed the suspect to be in the driver’s seat of a black SUV. Police activated their
emergency equipment as the driver fled the scene. Police pursued the vehicle and
observed it to disobey several traffic control devices, drive speeds more than the posted
speed limits and drive into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was followed to Spillway Dr
where it continued to attempt to evade police. The vehicle attempted to travel down a
blocked pedestrian path and collided with two large boulders causing damage to their
vehicle. Morden Police members were able to successfully stop the vehicle and thereby
prevent it from continuing to drive dangerously, this also resulted in minor damage to
two Morden Police vehicles. Winkler Police Service members arrived on scene and
assisted in securing the driver, who continued to resist arrest. Throughout the arrest
process the accused kicked the officers, causing minor injuries.
As a result of this incident, a 32-year-old Morden resident was charged with the
following offences:
Dangerous operation of a conveyance
Impaired operation of a conveyance
Refusal to comply with a breath demand
Assault with a weapon x2
Assault peace officer x2
Flight from police

The accused was released on conditions to attend Morden Provincial Court in July.
