During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- One ticket for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day vehicle impound
- One ticket for Attach Unauthorized Number Plate which carries a fine of $298
April 11th, 2023
At 2:45 am, police observed a male who was known to be on conditions to observe a curfew. The 26-year-old male was arrested and charged with four counts of Failing to Comply with a Release Order and one count of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. He was remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court.
Police received a report of mischief to the washrooms in the Morden Park which occurred sometime over the past weekend. Police are continuing their investigation.
Police received a report of mischief to the rear window of a 2021 grey Chevrolet Colorado truck that was parked on a driveway on the 300 block of 8th Street. The damage occurred sometime overnight, and there are no suspects.
Police received a warrant of arrest for 38-year-old John Junior Charlette for Failing to Attend Court.
At 3:20 pm, police observed a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 1st Street and Thornhill Street. A grey GMC Terrain conducted a left-hand turn onto 1st Street in front of a west bound white Chevrolet Sonic. The Sonic came in contact with the rear quarter panel of the Terrain. No one was injured in the accident and one vehicle was towed from the scene.
April 12th, 2023
At 6:40 am, police were dispatched to a structure fire on Elmwood Avenue. Police, Morden Fire and Rescue and EMS all attended the scene and observed smoke coming from inside the house. It was determined that no one was inside the home.
Police were dispatched to the Morden Park regarding a group of youth damaging the washroom. Police are continuing their investigation.
April 13th, 2023
At 8:25 am, police were dispatched to a local school regarding a female causing a disturbance on school property. The female was issued a ticket under The Trespass Act which carries a fine of $672.
Police received a report of a theft of tools from a residence on Country Club Lane. The theft occurred between April 9th and 10th. Police are continuing their investigation.
At 9:55 pm, police received a report of an intoxicated female causing a disturbance in a local business. The 52-year-old female was intoxicated and was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. She was lodged in cells until sober and released the next morning without charges.
April 16th, 2023
While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.
At 4:30 pm, police received a call to conduct a wellbeing check on a male. Police located the 28-year-old male who was heavily intoxicated. He was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
