April 15th, 2024 – April 22nd, 2024

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • Two tickets for Unlawful Transportation of Liquor in a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $237
  • One ticket for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • One By-Law ticket for Parked in No Parking Zone which carries a fine of $150
  • One ticket for Speeding (132 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $469

April 15th, 2024

Police received a report of a hit and run to a vehicle that occurred on April 14th while parked in a parking lot at the corner of North Railway Street and 6th Street.  The driver parked a 2015 white Chevrolet Cruze and returned to find damage on the driver’s side doors.

April 17th, 2024

Police received a report of a theft of a trick scooter.  The caller advised that the scooter was stolen from the Skatepark at Wardrop and 1st Street in the evening on April 12th.

Police received a report of Mischief to a business on Jefferson Street. The caller advised that his fence was cut at the rear of the business.  Police are continuing their investigation.

April 20th, 2024

While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle swerve within its lane several times.  Police conducted a traffic stop and observed an open case of beer in the backseat of the vehicle.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.  He was also issued a ticket for Unlawful Transportation of Liquor in a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $237.

April 21, 2024

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and observed open liquor in the back seat of the vehicle.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading.  The driver was issued a 15-day driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $500 administrative penalty.  He was also issued a ticket for As a Driver Carry Liquor in a Vehicle which carries a fine of $237, Fail to Comply with Licence Restrictions which carries a fine of $203 and Drive Without a Valid Driver’s Licence which carries a fine of $298.
