During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for speeding (74 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $364

April 17th, 2023

While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle travelling with one headlight burnt out.  Police activated their emergency lights and the vehicle pulled over.  While speaking to the driver police could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  Police conducted checks on the driver and found him to be on a condition to not possess or consume illegal drugs.  Police also observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.  The 37 year old male was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance and one count of Fail to Comply with an Undertaking.  He was released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in June.

April 19th, 2023

Police received a report of a hit and run that occurred on April 18th between 4:30pm and 5:30pm while parked on Eagle Drive.  The driver parked her 2008 grey Ford Fusion and returned to find damage to the rear taillight and fender.

Police received a report of mischief to a vehicle.  The caller advised that the back tires on his 2003 Ford F250 were slashed while his vehicle was parked on his driveway on Parkhill Place overnight. 

April 20th, 2023

At 12:20 am, while on general patrol police conducted a traffic stop and subsequent checks found the driver to have a cancelled driver’s licence.  Police observed a large quantity of marijuana in the backseat of the vehicle and was later found to be in possession of Methamphetamine.   The 24 year old male was arrested and charged for Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, Possess Cannabis not Packaged, Labelled and Stamped and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  He was released on an Undertaking to appear in Morden Provincial Court in May.  He was also issued an Appearance Notice to attend to Morden Provincial Court in May.

Police received a report from a local business regarding a theft on two different occasions.  Police are continuing their investigation.

At 10:00 pm, police were dispatched to a noise complaint.  The caller advised that they could hear yelling coming from an apartment.  Police attended and spoke to the occupants of the apartment who advised they were arguing but no assaults occurred.  No charges were laid as a result of this incident.

April 21st, 2023

Police were dispatched to a residence regarding a male being stabbed in the face.  Police attended and spoke to the male who had a small cut on his right cheek.  He advised that he did not want charges, was seen by EMS and was medically cleared.  The 52 year old female suspect was highly intoxicated and arrested for Assault with a Weapon.  She was lodged in cells until sober and released without charges.

Police received a report of a fraud.  The victim advised that someone has hacked her phone number and  sent messages to all her contacts asking for money.  The victim advised that one of her contacts has sent money to the scammer.  Police are continuing their investigation.

April 22nd, 2023

At 11:30 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding a male who was threatening to harm himself.  Police attended and spoke to the male who was intoxicated but said he was no longer feeling like he wanted to harm himself.  He was arrested under the Mental Health Act and the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.  He was released the next morning without charges.

At 3:00 am, police received a request to assist EMS with an intoxicated female who was needing to be assessed at the hospital.  Police attended and assisted EMS with transporting the patient to the hospital.

At 3:40 am, police received a noise complaint at a residence on Southlane Street.  Police attended and spoke to the resident who advised that they would keep the noise down.  No charges were laid as a result of this incident.

At 4:00 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated male causing a disturbance.  Police attended and the 29 year old male was quite intoxicated and pushing people around in the home.  He was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.  He was released without charges.

At 9:30 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated male who was no longer welcome in the residence.  Police attended and the 43 year old male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.  He was released without charges.

April 23rd, 2023

Police were flagged down by a male who advised that he had just been assaulted by a male outside of a local business.  The male advised that he was speaking to a group of people when another male approached him and punched him in the face.  The suspect then got into a taxi and left the area.  Approximately half an hour later police received a second report of Assault.  The caller advised that he was assaulted by a male who refused to leave his taxi.  Police attended and located the male in the back of the taxi.  He was the suspect from the earlier assault.  The 29 year old male was arrested for two counts of Assault and released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in July.

At 2:45 am, police received a call requesting assistance with a female who was threatening to harm herself.  Police attended and spoke to the female who was intoxicated.  She was lodged in cells until sober and subsequently transported to a healthcare facility for an assessment.

At 5:00 am, were dispatched to a residence regarding a male who was acting aggressive and advised he had used an illegal substance.  The male subsequently agreed to attend with EMS to a healthcare facility for an assessment.

Police received a call from a female who was feeling suicidal.  Police attended and spoke to the female who was subsequently transported to a healthcare facility for an assessment.
