At 6:15pm, police responded to a business on North Railway Street regarding a hit and run. Police spoke to the victim, who reported being struck by a vehicle while on foot in a parking lot after a verbal confrontation. The vehicle driver left the scene but was later identified by police and spoken to. The victim attended the hospital for precautionary reasons, and police are continuing the investigation with charges pending.
April 20th, 2022
At 4:30am, police responded to a report of an assault in the 300-block of 6th Street. Upon arrival, police located a victim with injuries who was transported to hospital. Police subsequently arrested a 22-year-old male and transported him to the Morden Police Service where he was later remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Court the following day.

At 2:15am, police conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on a Roadside Screening device which resulted in a “fail” reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.
April 23rd, 2022
While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and observed an odor of liquor coming from the driver’s breath. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on a Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a “warn” reading. The driver was issued a 72 hour driving suspension and a 3 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.
While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle travelling with a broken taillight. The vehicle was subsequently pulled over and police observed an odor of liquor coming from the driver’s breath. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on a Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a “fail” reading. The driver was arrested and transported to the Morden Police Service to provide a breath sample, which resulted in two readings analyzed at 100 mg%. As a result of the readings, a 24 year old Winkler resident was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operate Over 80 mg%. The driver was issued a 3 month driving suspension and a 30 day impoundment of the vehicle. He was also issued a ticket for Carry Liquor in a Vehicle which carries a fine of $237. He will appear in Morden Provincial Court in July.
At 4:00 am, police were dispatched to a building complex on Stephen Street regarding a male yelling in the street and smashing windows on a parked car. Police attended and observed a male standing beside the damaged vehicle. The male appeared intoxicated and when questioned on the damage to the vehicle he could not explain why he smashed the windows. The 18 year old Winkler resident was arrested and charged with one count of Mischief Over $5000 and released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in June.
At 11:30 am, police received a report of a smashed door window on an apartment complex on Stephen Street. The suspect entered the building and knocked on some of the apartment doors. Police are continuing their investigation.
