April 22nd, 2024 – April 29th, 2024

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Improper Equipment namely improper side window tinting which carries a fine of $174
  • One By-Law ticket for Parked Facing Oncoming Traffic which carries a fine of $150
  • One By-Law ticket for Parked Contrary to Signage which carries a fine of $150
  • One ticket for Speeding (129 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $429

April 24th, 2024

Police received a Warrant of Arrest for Michael James Anderson for failing to attend court on April 23rd. Anyone with knowledge of Anderson’s whereabouts are encouraged to contact the Morden Police Service.

At 1:30 pm, police received a call regarding Mischief to a vehicle.  The caller advised that the back window of a white Mitsubishi Outlander was smashed sometime overnight while it was parked on their driveway on South Railway Street.

April 25th, 2024

At 4:50 pm, police were dispatched to the Lake Minnewasta trail as two males were observed to be armed with a handgun.  The males were seen leaving the area in a vehicle and police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.  The suspects were safely taken into custody, and police located two airsoft pistols in the vehicle along with open liquor and cannabis.  The driver of the vehicle was issued tickets for Unlawful Transportation of Liquor in a vehicle which carries a fine of $237 and Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in a vehicle which carries a fine of $237. Both males were cautioned regarding the use of the weapons in a public setting.

April 27th, 2024

While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle that was driven by a female who police had received a complaint about earlier in the day.  Police conducted a traffic stop and the driver was observed to be intoxicated by alcohol. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty. 

April 28th, 2024

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and observed a strong odor of liquor coming from the driver’s breath.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty. 

At 2:35 am, police observed a vehicle travelling with its running lights not illuminated.  Police conducted a traffic stop and observed the driver to be intoxicated by alcohol.  The accused was arrested and transported to the Morden Police Service to provide a breath sample, which resulted in two readings analyzed at 290 mg% and 270 mg%.   As a result of the readings, a 26 year-old Winnipeg resident was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operate Over 80 mg%, and Operate while Prohibited. The driver was issued a license suspension of 3 months along with a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle.  He will appear in Morden Provincial Court in July.

At 9:40 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated female banging on her neighbor’s doors and windows.  Police had received several complaints regarding this female yelling and causing problems throughout the day.  A 35-year-old Morden resident was found to be highly intoxicated and was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.  She was released without charges.
