April 29th, 2024 – May 13th, 2024

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Improper Equipment namely improper side window tinting which carries a fine of $174
  • One ticket for Speeding (122 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $338
  • One ticket for Speeding (134 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $495
  • One ticket for Speeding (127km/hr is a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $403
  • Two By-Law tickets for Parking in No Parking Zone which carries a fine of $150
  • One ticket for Use a Cellular Telephone or other Handheld Device while operating a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $672 and a three-day license suspension.
  • One By-Law ticket for parking facing oncoming traffic which carries a fine of $150
  • One By-Law ticket for Creating a noise nuisance by amplified sound which carries a fine of $150
  • One By-Law ticket for Parking Contrary to Signage which carries a fine of $150
  • One ticket for Driving Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for Driving while Disqualified which carries a fine of $672

April 30th, 2024

Police received a Warrant of Arrest for a 24-year-old male for failing to comply with probation order. The male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and was released on an Appearance Notice to attend Morden Provincial Court in July.

May 5th, 2024

At 9:45am, police were dispatched to a multi-family dwelling unit in regard to a male causing a disturbance. Police attended and found the suspect yelling and extremely agitated, unwilling to follow police cautions to stop causing a disturbance. The 41-year-old male was subsequently arrested at which time he resisted police and was eventually taken into custody safely. He was later released on an Undertaking and will appear at Morden Provincial Court in July.

While on general patrol, police received a report of a possible impaired driver. Police conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle and observed a strong odor of liquor coming from the driver’s breath.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.

May 7th, 2024

Police received a Warrant of Arrest for Marilyn LAMINI for failing to attend court. Anyone with knowledge of Lamini’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Morden Police Service.

May 9th, 2024

At 12:47am, police were dispatched to a male causing a disturbance.  Police arrived to find a 30-year-old male intoxicated and yelling. He was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, lodged in police cells and later released without charges once sober.
