Arrests and Search Warrant lead to drug charges

On October 20th, 2022 members of the Morden Police Service arrested two individuals as a result of an ongoing investigation.  A short time later, with the assistance of the Regional Support Tactical Team, police executed a Search Warrant on their residence in the City of Morden.  During the search, police located a quantity of pills, psilocybin, multiple digital scales, a replica firearm, and other drug trafficking related paraphernalia.

The Morden Police Service K9 unit and PSD Ice conducted a search of the suspect vehicle which indicated on the hood of the vehicle.  Police located a device used to transport controlled substances.  A further search of the vehicle located a hidden lock box in the trunk area that contained methamphetamine.  Police located another concealed area in the trunk and seized a can of bear spray, pills, a can of pepper spray, more methamphetamine, a scale and other drug related paraphernalia.

As a result of this investigation, 32-year-old, Michael Anderson of Morden has been charged with:  Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x3 to wit: Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Gabapentin, Possession of a Controlled substance x 3 to wit: Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Psilocybin and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.   Anderson was remanded into custody and transported to Winnipeg to appear in Court.

Also, a 45-year-old female from Morden will be facing similar charges.  She was released on an undertaking to appear in Morden Provincial Court in December.

Police continue to investigate this matter with the possibility of more charges being laid.  The quantity of Methamphetamine seized could have supplied over 150 individual uses at the street level.
