During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- One ticket for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day vehicle impound
August 9th, 2022
Police received a warrant of arrest for 24-year-old James Leroy MERRILL for failing to attend Morden Provincial Court on August 9th, 2022.
Police received a report of a theft of perfume from a local business. Police are continuing their investigation.
August 10th, 2022
While on general patrol, police observed a male driving a vehicle, who was known to be on conditions to not operate a motor vehicle and to have several arrest warrants. Police activated their emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle then began accelerating away from police almost hitting a pedestrian. The pursuit was terminated and police are continuing their investigation.
August 11th, 2022
At 11:15 pm, police received a report of a male going through vehicles in the 200 block of 7th Street. Police attended the area and located a male who matched the description carrying a laptop and backpack. The male was arrested and several vehicle keys and credit/debit cards along with change were located on the suspect. The male was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Provincial Court in October.
August 12th, 2022
Police are investigating several reports of thefts from motor vehicles. The following incidents occurred between the evening of August 11th and the morning of August 12th.
- A car was broken into and rummaged through while parked in a parking lot on Nelson Street and a wallet was stolen from the vehicle. The wallet was later located and returned to the owner.
- A vehicle was broken into and rummaged through while parked on a driveway on 9th Street and change was stolen from the vehicle.
- A garage was broken into and a wallet was stolen from inside the vehicle parked inside the garage on Nelson Street.
- A vehicle was broken into on 7th Street but nothing was taken from this vehicle.
August 13th, 2022
At 12:50 am, police received a report that the caller’s vehicle was gone through in the past hour and a half and her debit card was stolen.
At 2:10 am, police observed a male and female standing beside a vehicle in a parking lot. Police spoke with the female who was highly intoxicated and acting aggressively towards police. The 26 year old female was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. She was released without charges.
Police were dispatched to a residence regarding a male banging on the door. Police attended and observed a male who was highly intoxicated and known to police to be on conditions to not consume alcohol. The suspect was arrested and charged with Failing to Comply with an Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice for court in October.
At 11:00 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. Police attended and the suspect was known to police to be on conditions to not consume alcohol. The suspect was arrested and charged with Failing to Comply with an Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice for court in October.
August 14th, 2022
Police received a report of a navy and grey hybrid bike stolen from a residence on 6th Street.
