During this reporting period, Morden Police:

  • Conducted 5 compliance check for travelers who were under a Mandatory Isolation Order.

During this reporting period, Morden Police issued:

  • Two tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for Fail to Display Front License Plate which carries a fine of $113
  • One ticket for Speeding which carries a fine of $429
  • One ticket for Improper Side Window Tinting which carries a fine of $174

August 9th, 2021

At 9:59 am, police were dispatched to a residence for an individual that was suicidal. Police attended and stayed with the individual until they could be transported to a medical healthcare facility for treatment.

August 10th, 2021

Police received a report of fraud. The victim was speaking to a male on the phone who stated that he needed money for his girlfriend as she was in another country. The victim then sent $2000 in money grams and $2000 in various gift cards. Police informed the victim that this was a scam and cautioned them on sending money to people not known to them.

At 7:00 pm, police received a driving complaint. The caller stated that he observed a reckless driver almost hitting children in a parking lot. Police located the registered owner and issued a caution regarding the complaint.

August 11th, 2021

At 1:14 am, police received a call from an individual stating that there were individuals outside his window. While on the phone, the caller was heard speaking to the individuals and asking them how they got inside. When police arrived, they located the suspects outside of the residence, who stated that they knew the caller and entered the residence through the unlocked front door. The suspects were advised to leave the residence for the night. The caller was instructed to lock their front door.

Police received a call from the manager of a store, stating that an individual attended their location to purchase gift cards for what they believed to be a scam. Police attended the store to speak with the individual and learned that he had purchased $500 in gift cards to send to someone online. Police were able to convince the individual to not send the money.

At 11:14 pm, police were dispatched to a residence for a male that was hallucinating. Police attended and stayed with the individual until they could be transported to a medical healthcare facility for treatment.

August 12th, 2021

Morden Police received a noise complaint in the area of Gilmour Street and 9th Street. Police attended the area and could hear a car alarm sounding. The owner of the vehicle was located, and the alarm was shut off.

Morden Police Service received a report of a hit and run that happened at the intersection of Mountain Street South and Cochlan Drive. The victim was approaching the stop sign, when a white pick-up truck that was driving in front of her, backed into her black 2013 Dodge Dart, damaging the front end. The driver of the pick-up truck apologized, but then drove off without leaving their particulars. Police continue to investigate this matter.

At 10:45 pm, police received a report of a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Falcon Drive. Police located the vehicle and issued the driver a verbal warning.

 August 13th, 2021

Morden Police Service received a report of fraud. An individual reported that they noticed several large e-transfers being sent from their online banking. When the victim reported this to their bank, they were told that a scammer had gained access to their online banking through their email account. In total, over $7,000 was transferred out of the account.

August 14th, 2021

At 5:45 pm, police were dispatched to a residence for a dispute between a landlord and a tenant. Police attended and mediated the situation.
