- Two tickets for Drive While Disqualified which each carry a fine of $672 and a 30-day vehicle impound
- One ticket for Fail to Display Correct Number and Type of Number Plate which carries a fine of $113
- One ticket for Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in or on Vehicle which carries a fine of $237
- One ticket for Possession or Consumption of Cannabis by a Young Person which carries a fine of $672
- One ticket for Possess Cannabis not Packaged, Labelled and Stamped which carries a fine of $672
February 28th, 2022
At 4:35 am, police responded to Valleyfield Drive in regard to a stolen vehicle. On their way to this call, police located the stolen vehicle stuck in the snow on at 2nd Street and Gilmour Street. Shortly after, police received another stolen vehicle report. While investigating, police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the area. The vehicle briefly evaded police but was eventually stopped and later found to be stolen. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was arrested without incident.
A short while later, police located a vehicle parked on Parkhill Drive facing oncoming traffic with the keys in the ignition. Police learned that this vehicle was stolen from a residence on 6th Street earlier. Throughout the day police received several other reports of vehicles that had been rummaged through.
As a result of the investigation, a Morden youth was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 and later released on an Undertaking to appear at Morden Provincial Court in May. Police are continuing to investigate this matter. The Morden Police would like to remind residents to keep vehicles and houses locked, with valuables stored in a secure place that is out of sight.
March 1st, 2022
Police received a report of mischief to a vehicle that was parked at 303 North Railway Street on February 19th. The victim stated that when they returned to their grey 2017 Mazda CX-5, they discovered key marks along the side. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Morden Police Service.
March 2nd, 2022
While on general patrol, police observed a suspicious vehicle. Further investigation revealed a firearm in the back seat of the vehicle in plain view along with several rounds of ammunition. The vehicle was found to be unlocked and the keys were in the ignition. Police subsequently seized the firearm and found it to be loaded. As a result, a 30-year-old resident of Morden was later arrested and charged with one count of Unlawful Transportation of a Weapon. He was released on an Appearance Notice to attend Morden Provincial Court in May.
Morden Police Service received a report of a scam. The victim stated that they received an email from a co-worker requesting assistance in making a payment. The co-worker requested that an e-transfer be sent to a different email address and to let them know once this was completed. The victim transferred the money to this email address and then realized that this was a scam.
At 4:54 pm, Morden Police were dispatched to Elam Street and Rampton Street for a report of an impaired driver. Police arrived on scene and spoke with the caller who stated that they were stopped at the intersection of Route 100 and Thornhill Street at which time they were struck from behind by another vehicle. The suspect refused to stop and was followed to Elam Street where it eventually became stuck in the snow. The suspect appeared to be intoxicated and was arrested by police. The suspect was transported to the Morden Police Service where she provided two breath samples resulting in readings of 300 mg% and 290 mg%. As a result of the readings, a 21-year-old Morden resident was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operate Over 80 mg%. The driver was issued a 90-day license suspension and a 60-day vehicle impoundment. She will appear at Morden Provincial Court in May.

At 1:01 am, while on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on a Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a “fail” reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day vehicle impound along with a $700 fine.
At 2:55 am, while on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on a Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a “fail” reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day vehicle impound along with a $700 fine.
Police received a report from an individual admitting to sending intimate images to someone online. After the suspect received the images, they stated that they would post the images on YouTube unless the victim sent them money. The victim did not send money and has since block their account. This has become a common scam seen by police, and people are reminded to be cautious when sending anything online to people they don’t know.
At 2:52 pm, police were dispatched to a residence to conduct a well being check on an individual that was throwing things around at their residence and acting aggressive. Police attended and spoke to the individual who was subsequently transported to a healthcare facility for an assessment.
At 6:30 pm, police were dispatched to a residence in regard to an intoxicated male who was causing a disturbance. Police attended and a 56-year-old male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. He was lodged in cells until sober and later released without charges.
