February 9th, 2026 – February 17th, 2026

During this reporting period, MPS issued: 

  • One ticket for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298 
  • Five tickets for Speeding 
  • One ticket for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely red light which carries a fine of $203 
  • One ticket for Improper Equipment namely must have required lamps which carries a fine of $174 
  • One By-Law ticket for Parked Facing Oncoming Traffic which carries a fine of $100 

February 9th, 2026 

Police were dispatched to a local business regarding a male attempting to return property they believed was previously stolen.  The caller advised that the suspect had stolen the items from the store a few days earlier and was back at the store attempting to return the stolen property.  Police attended and the suspect was subsequently banned from the property by the business. 

February 14th, 2026 

At 2:20 am, police were dispatched to a local establishment regarding a male who was highly intoxicated and refusing to leave.  Police attended and attempted to return the male home but he refused and became uncooperative.  A 27 year-old male was arrested for Causing a Disturbance and under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.  He was issued a ticket for Fail to Comply with Direction by Police to leave a Licensed Premises which carries a fine of $672. 

Police were dispatched to Lake Minnewasta regarding a vehicle driving erratically on the lake.  Police located the vehicle and issued a verbal warning to the driver about their driving habits. 

At 6:00 pm, police received a report of a theft from a storage locker.  The caller advised that he observed two bikes that had been stolen from him posted for sale online.  The bikes were located and returned to the owner.  Police are continuing their investigation. 

February 15th, 2026 

At 2:10 am, police were dispatched to a local business regarding a possible assault.  The caller was highly intoxicated and yelling at bystanders.  He refused to leave with a sober adult and was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.  He was lodged in cells and released the next day without charges.  He also declined to pursue Assault charges. 

At 8:25 pm, police conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle. With the assistance of the MPS K9 Unit, the driver was subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance. A search of the vehicle revealed an illegal substance and drug-trafficking paraphernalia. A 24 year-old male from Manitou was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and released on an Undertaking to attend court in May.
