During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- Eight tickets for Speeding
- One ticket for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
- One ticket for Overtake and pass on the right in an unsafe manner which carries a fine of $174
- One ticket for Drive while disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day vehicle impoundment
- One ticket for Possess Not Manitoba Marked Tobacco which carries a fine of $2542
July 2nd, 2025
Police received a report of a male smashing a window at an apartment complex on North Railway Street. The building manager requested the male be banned from the property and did not wish to pursue charges. The suspect was known to police and issued a banning notice.
At 9:50 pm, police were dispatched to a local establishment regarding a male who was yelling and swearing at customers. Police attended and located the male who was heavily intoxicated. The 38 year-old male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells. He was released when sober without charges.
July 3rd, 2025
Police received a report of a motor vehicle collision with a building at 34 Stephen Street. The collision occurred sometime between June 30th and July 3rd with damage occurring to the southeast corner of the building. Anyone with information is asked to contact MPS.
July 4th, 2025
At 7:20 pm, police were dispatched to Colert Beach campground regarding a couple who were camping without paying for a site. Police arrived and spoke to the couple who were waiting for a ride. Subsequent checks found the female was on conditions to have no contact with the male. She was arrested for failing to comply with her probation order and released on an Appearance Notice to attend court in October. The couple was also issued a warning for possessing unmarked tobacco.
July 5th, 2025
At 10:10 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated male who was causing issues and not complying with EMS. The male was not injured and did not require to go to the hospital. The male was belligerent with police and due to his level of intoxication was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, lodged in cells and released when sober without charges.
At 10:10 pm, police observed a male walking near Mountain Street and Thornhill Street who was known to be on a curfew from 10pm to 6am. He was arrested for Failing to Comply with his Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice to appear in Morden Provincial Court in October. He was also issued a ticket for possessing unmarked tobacco which carries a fine of $2,542.
July 6th, 2025
While on an MPI sponsored Roadwatch Campaign, police observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. Police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the vehicle and observed open liquor containers. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a ‘warn’ reading. The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 fine. The driver was also issued a ticket for Drive Disqualified which carries a fine of $672.
At 3:30 pm, police were dispatched to an apartment complex regarding a male who was causing a disturbance. Police attended who spoke with the caller who advised that after she called the police the male slapped her on the face. The 31 year-old Morden resident was arrested for Assault and released on an Undertaking to attend court in October.
July 8th, 2025
Police received an unendorsed warrant for Christopher Steigerwald for failing to attend court.
July 9th, 2025
At 9:30 am, police received a call requesting police assistance with a male who was acting erratically swinging a rake while walking in and out of traffic. Police attended and spoke to the male who was subsequently transported to a healthcare facility for an assessment.
July 11th, 2025
At 2:00am, police were dispatched to a local residence for a report of 2 females fighting. Police arrived and spoke with both parties. A 31-year-old female was intoxicated and arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. She was released without charges once sober.
