June 12th, 2023 – June 19th, 2023
During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- Two tickets for Failing to Wear a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
- Three tickets for Use a Cellular Telephone or other Handheld Device while Operating a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $672 and a three-day license suspension.
- Two City of Morden By-Law tickets for Parking in a No Parking Zone which carries a fine of $150
June 13th, 2023
Police received a report of a female causing a disturbance at a local business. The caller advised that the female had been told to leave but was yelling at people and trying to get back into the business. Police attended and spoke to the female. She was subsequently banned from the property and given a ride home.
Police received a warrant of arrest for 33 year-old Wade Andrew Mousseau for failing to attend court.
At 7:20 pm, police were dispatched to Lake Minnewasta boat launch regarding three males drinking alcohol. Police attended and spoke to one male who had been drinking, the other male had not. Both males were issued warnings regarding open liquor and told to leave the lake.
At 8:35 pm, police received a complaint of a domestic assault. Police attended and spoke to the female caller who advised that her boyfriend had pushed her and damaged some property. The suspect had left the residence but was located a short while later by police. The 28 year-old Morden resident was arrested for Assault and Mischief Under $5,000 and released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in August.
June 14th, 2023
Police received a report of a theft from a local business. Police learned a male suspect had kicked in the office door to the business and stole money. The male suspect was known to police and located a short time later. The 27 year-old Morden resident was arrested for Theft under $5,000 and released on an Undertaking to appear in Morden Provincial Court in August.
At 11:00 pm, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. The caller advised while travelling on Thornhill Street through the intersection of Mountain Street, a cyclist failed to stop at the red light and drove into the side of the caller’s vehicle. The cyclist was unharmed but left the scene before exchanging information with the driver. The cyclist was located a short while later unharmed. No charges were laid as a result of this incident.
June 17th, 2023
At 2:15 am, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated male. The caller advised that they are worried for his safety. Police attended and spoke to the male who was heavily intoxicated and being loud and belligerent. The 18 year-old male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
Police received a report of a mischief to a local business. The caller advised that a male suspect attempted to force the office door open causing damage to the door. The 27 year-old Morden resident was arrested for Mischief Under $5,000 and Failing to Comply with his Undertaking. He was released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in August.
June 18th, 2023
Police received a report of break and enter to a detached garage. The caller advised that sometime overnight a suspect broke into his garage and threw items around the garage. Nothing was reported stolen or damaged.
Police received a report of a break, enter and theft to a local business. A vehicle was stolen from the property and an out-building was broken into. The vehicle was located by the RCMP outside of Morden later in the day. Police are continuing their investigation.
