During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- Two tickets for Failing to Wear a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Drive without a Valid Driver’s Licence which carries a fine of $298
- Two tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30 day motor vehicle seizure
- One City of Morden By-Law ticket for Parking in a No Parking Zone which carries a fine of $150
- One ticket for Speeding (123 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $351
- One ticket for Speeding (121 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $325
- One ticket for Speeding (78 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $416
- One ticket for Speeding (86 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $521
- One ticket for Speeding (67 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $272
June 19th, 2023
While on general patrol police observed a male known to police to be on an absolute curfew. The male was arrested by police for not complying with his Conditional Sentence Order. The 47 year old Morden resident was remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court the next day.
June 20th, 2023
At 2:20 am, police were dispatched to the 100 block of 13th Street regarding three people looking into vehicles. Police located two of the male youths and one of the youths admitted to looking in vehicles. Both male youths were issued a verbal warning and taken home to their parents.
At 2:00 pm, a 46 year old Winnipeg male turned himself into police for failing to comply with his Release Order. He was remanded into custody and appeared in Winnipeg Provincial Court the following day.
At 11:10 pm, police were dispatched to a local church reporting that three people were observed taking decorations off the building. The suspects fled the area and were not located. Police are continuing their investigation.
June 21st, 2023
Police received two reports of flags being stolen from residences. Police are continuing their investigation.
At 3:55 pm, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the corner of Mountain Street and Thornhill Street. Police attended and observed that a brown Subaru Forester had rear ended a grey GMC Terrain while travelling south bound on Mountain Street. Morden Fire and Rescue and EMS were on scene and both vehicles were towed from the accident site. All occupants were transported to the hospital by ambulance for minor injuries.
At 11:05 pm, police observed a male on who was known to police to be on a curfew. The 27 year old Morden resident was arrested and charged with one count of Failing to Comply with his Undertaking. He was released on an Appearance Notice to appear in Morden Provincial Court in August.
June 23rd, 2023
At 1:45 am, police were dispatched to a local business regarding an intoxicated male who was going to drive a vehicle. Police attended and located a highly intoxicated male in the parking lot. The 37 year old Roland resident was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
At 8:10 pm, police were dispatched to Boundary Trails Hospital regarding a male who was causing a disturbance. Police had been dealing with the intoxicated male earlier in the evening. The 18 year old Morden resident was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
At 10:00 pm, while on general patrol police conducted a traffic stop and observed open liquor on the floor of the vehicle and an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a fail reading. The accused was arrested and transported to the Morden Police Service to provide a breath sample, which resulted in two readings analyzed at 190 mg% and 180 mg%. As a result of the readings, a 28 year old Morden resident was charged with Impaired Operation and Operate While Over .08 and released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in September. The driver was issued a license suspension of 3 months along with a 60 day impoundment of the vehicle.
June 24th, 2023
At 1:10 am, while on general patrol, police observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. Police conducted a traffic stop and observed several empty beer containers in the vehicle. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72 hour driving suspension and a 3 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty. The driver was also issued a ticket for Unlawful transportation of liquor in a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $237.
At 1:55 am, while on general patrol police conducted a traffic stop and observed an odor of liquor coming from the driver of the vehicle. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72 hour driving suspension and a 3 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.
While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Police conducted a traffic stop and could smell a strong odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading. The driver was issued a 90 day driving suspension and a 30 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.
June 25th, 2023
Police were dispatched to a residence regarding a male who was highly intoxicated, fighting people and smashing things in the caller’s home. Police attended and subsequent checks on the male observed that he had curfew conditions to reside at another residence. The 18 year old Roseau River resident was arrested for one count of Fail to Comply with an Undertaking. He was released on an Appearance Notice to appear in Morden Provincial Court in September.
