June 26, 2023 – July 3rd, 2023

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Drive without a Valid Driver’s Licence which carries a fine of $298
  • One City of Morden By-Law ticket for Parking in a No Parking Zone which carries a fine of $150
  • One City of Morden By-Law ticket for Parking Facing Oncoming Traffic which carries a fine of $150

June 27th, 2023

At 10:49pm, police were dispatched to a local business for a reported disturbance. Police located a 29-year-old male to be swearing, yelling and intoxicated. He was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.  He was released without charges.

June 28th, 2023

At 3:55 pm, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 1st Street and Thornhill Street. Police attended and observed that a white Dodge Journey had collided with a white Honda CRV. Morden Fire and Rescue and EMS were on scene and the Honda CRV was towed from the accident. Both occupants were assessed by EMS for injuries.

At 5:58 pm, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Thornhill Street and Mountain Street. Police and EMS attended and observed three vehicles involved in the collision and no reported injuries to EMS. All drivers exchanged information and no charges were laid as a result.

June 29th, 2023

Police were dispatched to a local residence for a report of stolen property. The homeowner stated that the residence was unlocked and someone entered and stole a laptop computer. Police are continuing their investigation.

June 30th, 2023

Police received a report of a hit and run to a vehicle that occurred while parked the CIBC parking lot near 7th Street and Stephen Street. The driver parked a Hyundai Elantra and returned to find extensive damage to the driver-side door. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 204-822-4900.

At 10:52 pm, police received a report of a suspicious person near a vacant residence. Police attended and found the 46-year-old male intoxicated. He was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, lodged in cells until sober, and released without charges.

July 1st, 2023

Police were dispatched to a local apartment building for a report of a disturbance. Police attended to find two people verbally arguing. A 44-year-old male was intoxicated and had nowhere to stay and was subsequently arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in police cells. He was released once sober without charges.

While on general patrol, police observed a female that was known to the police to be on conditions not to consume or possess alcohol. While conducting a check on the female, she was  observed to be intoxicated and in possession of alcohol. The 44-year-old female was arrested for Failing to Comply with Release Order and was released once sober on an Appearance Notice to attend Winnipeg Provincial Court in August.

July 2nd, 2023

Police were dispatched to a local business for a report of a male who was unresponsive and took medication. Police and EMS attended to find the male conscious. He was transported to the local hospital for further observation.
