March 20th, 2023 – April 3rd, 2023

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
  • One ticket for Speeding (182 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $1123 and a Serious Offence Notice was served on the driver
  • One ticket for Use a Cellular Telephone or other Handheld Device while Operating a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $672 and a three-day license suspension.
  • One ticket for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298

March 20th, 2023

Police conducted a curfew check on an individual who was to reside at a specific residence and abide by a curfew.  The male was not at the residence and police issued a warrant for arrest for 22-year-old Sombut UCH for Failing to Comply with a Release Order.

March 27th, 2023

Police received a report of a theft of gas from a local business.  The caller advised that the vehicle left without paying for fuel, but he had obtained the plate number from the suspect vehicle.  The registered owner was contacted and advised they would attend to pay for the gas.  No charges were laid as a result of this incident.

At 7:10 pm, police received a call regarding a suspicious male attempting to open vehicle doors on Route 100.  The male told the caller that he was looking for money.  Police located the male and gave him a ride home.

March 30th, 2023

While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle swerve within its lane several times.  Police conducted a traffic stop and observed an odor of liquor coming from the driver.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty

April 3, 2023

At 8:00 am, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 3rd Street and Thornhill Street. Police attended and spoke to both drivers, and it was determined that the white Ford Edge was travelling north bound on 3rd Street and was unable to stop at the stop sign at Thornhill Street. A grey Toyota Rav 4 was travelling west bound on Thornhill Street and the Ford Edge collided with the driver’s side of the vehicle. No one was injured in the accident and one vehicle was towed from the scene.
