May 1st, 2023 – May 8th, 2023

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Parking in a No Parking Zone which carries a fine of $150
  • Five tickets for Drive Unregistered which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for Speeding (104 km/hr in a 70 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $495
  • One ticket for Speeding (80km/hr in a 50km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $442
  • One ticket for Fail to Obey Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203

May 1st, 2023

Police received a report of a hit and run that happened on April 28th, 2023, at 3:35pm. The driver parked his vehicle in a business parking lot on Stephen Street and returned to find damage to the left rear bumper.

May 3rd, 2023

At 12:00am police were dispatched for a report of an intoxicated female who was banging on doors and windows. Police arrived to find a 52-year-old female who was intoxicated, she was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and was released in the morning once sober.

May 5th, 2023

Police were dispatched to the corner of Thornhill and 11th Street in Morden for a motor vehicle collision. Police arrived on scene and no injuries were reported, information exchanged, and police cleared the scene.

May 6th, 2023

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day vehicle impoundment along with a $400 administration penalty.

At 3:15pm, Police received a call requesting police assistance with a female who was threatening to harm herself. Police attended and spoke to the female who was subsequently transported to healthcare facility for an assessment.

May 7th, 2023

Police were dispatched to a local business regarding an assault. Police attended and spoke to the caller who advised that a male was fighting and yelling at a female, the 34-year-old male was then arrested for assault. He was released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Provincial Court in July.

At 7:39pm police received a report of an argument at a local residence. Police arrived to find a 27-year-old female who was intoxicated and had nowhere else to stay. She was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged into cells until sober. She was released without charges.
