During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • Twenty six tickets for Speeding
  • Two tickets for Operate vehicle with a number plate obstructed which carries a fine of $203
  • One ticket for Driving while Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day vehicle suspension
  • One ticket for Fail to Yield right of way to a Pedestrian at Pedestrian Corridor which carries a fine of $174
  • One ticket for Driver Fail to Produce Licence which carries a fine of $113
  • Three tickets for Driver not Wearing a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
  • Six tickets for Drive Unregistered which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for Towing an Unregistered Trailer which carries a fine of $298
  • Two tickets for Drive without valid Driver’s License which carries a fine of $298
  • Three tickets for Disobey a Traffic Control Device namely a Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
  • One By-Law ticket for parking facing oncoming traffic which carries a fine of $150
  • One By-Law ticket for parking an unregistered vehicle on street which carries a fine of $150
  • One ticket for unlawful transportation of liquor in motor vehicle which carries a fine of $237

May 25th, 2024

While conducting an MPI Roadwatch Checkstop, police conducted a traffic stop and observed open liquor in the vehicle. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a Warn reading. The Driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.

May 26th, 2024

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and observed an odor of liquor coming from the driver’s breath. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a Fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty. 

May 29th, 2024

At 9:15 pm, police were dispatched to two businesses regarding a male who had attended inside their business and caused a disturbance by yelling.  This male had been previously banned from attending both businesses. The suspect was located near his residence but fled on foot when confronted by police.  The suspect was apprehended and arrested for Trespass and being intoxicated in public. The 30 year-old Morden resident was lodged in cells until sober and issued two tickets for Trespassing which carries a fine of $672.

May 31st, 2024

While conducting an MPI Roadwatch Checkstop, police observed a vehicle travelling with no front licence plate and no taillights on.  Police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a Fail reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.

June 1st, 2024

While conducting a MPI Roadwatch Checkstop, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a Fail reading. The driver was arrested and transported to the MPS subsequenlty providing breath samples over the legal limit. A 30 year-old Winkler resident was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operate Over 80 mg%. The driver was issued a 3-month license suspension along with a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle.  He will appear in Morden Provincial Court in August.

At 7:20 pm, police were dispatched to the intersection of 13th Street and Thornhill Street for a motor vehicle accident with a pedestrian.  The pedestrian was riding his bike through the pedestrian crosswalk when he was struck by a truck travelling westbound on Thornhill Street.  Morden Fire and EMS were on scene and the pedestrian was transported by ambulance to hospital.  Police are continuing their investigation.
