During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- One ticket for Speeding (122 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $338
- One ticket for Speeding (133 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $482
- One ticket for Speeding (126 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $391
- One ticket or Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
- One ticket for Driving Unregistered which carries a fine of $298
- Five tickets for Failing to Wear Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
- Two City of Morden By-Law tickets for Parking in a No Parking Zone which carries a fine of $150
- One ticket for Use Cellular Telephone or Other Hand Operated Electronic Device while driving which carries a fine of $672 and a 3-day license suspension.
- One ticket for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day motor vehicle suspension
May 29th, 2023
At 5:30 pm, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle roll over on Highway 3 where the driver had fled the scene on foot. Police attended and located the male driver nearby who was believed to be the driver and was found to be unharmed. Police observed an odor of liquor coming from the male’s breath and he was arrested for Impaired Driving. Paramedics subsequently transported the male for precautionary reasons, and a blood demand was made by police. The male was later released without charges, however the investigation is ongoing.
May 31st, 2023
At 12:15 am, police were dispatched to a residence regarding a family dispute. Police attended and spoke to all the residents and helped mediate the situation. One male left the home for the night. No charges were laid as a result of this incident.
Police received a report of a theft from a local business. The caller advised there was approximately $2500 – $3000 worth of merchandise stolen. Police are continuing their investigation.
At 2:30 pm, police received a report of a Mischief to a residence. Police attended and observed a broken basement window at the residence. The suspect was located in the back yard and arrested for Mischief Under $5,000. The 38 year-old Morden resident was released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in August.
June 1st, 2023
At 5:25pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an assault and property damage. Police learned the suspect was also attempting to start a fire at the residence. Police attended and arrested a 38 year-old male without incident. The victim was subsequently transported to BTHC with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The accused, Christopher FOSSENEUVE, was charged with Aggravated Assault, Mischief Under $5,000, Possession of Incendiary Material, Uttering Threats and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking. He was remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on Monday.
June 2nd, 2023
At 10:30 am, police were dispatched to a local school regarding a suspicious male. Police attended and through subsequent checks learned that the male was on conditions not to attend anywhere a person under the age of 16 years may be present. The 29 year-old Winnipeg resident was arrested for Failing to Comply with his Prohibition Order and remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on Monday.
While on general patrol police located a male lying on the grass in front of an apartment building with open liquor in his hand. The male was intoxicated and known to police to be on conditions to not possess or consume alcohol. The 29 year-old Morden resident was arrested for one count of Fail to Comply with his Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice to attend to Morden Provincial court in August.
June 3rd, 2023
At 7:10 pm, police received a complaint of a disturbance at a residence. Police attended and observed a male passed out on the front step. The 43 year-old male was intoxicated and had nowhere to stay. He was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
At 7:45 pm, police were dispatched to Minnewasta Campground regarding two females yelling and swearing at staff. Police attended and observed the intoxicated females swimming in the lake. Both were subsequently taken home by police and turned over to a sober adult.
