During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- One ticket for speeding (50km/hr in a 30 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $312
- One ticket for driving unregistered vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for failing to stop at stop sign which carries a fine of $203
November 20th, 2023
Police received a report of a fraud. The caller advised that someone hacked their account and wired a total of $160,000. The victim contacted their bank and police are continuing their investigation.
Police received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle. The caller stated that there was no damage to the vehicle but that her wallet was taken from inside. Police are continuing their investigation.
November 22nd, 2023
Police received a report of a hit and run that occurred while parked on the corner of Stephen Street and 5th Street. The driver parked his grey Ford Fusion and returned to find damage to the front bumper. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Morden Police Service at 204-822-4900.
November 23rd, 2023
While on general patrol, police observed smoke coming from a parking lot of a local business. Police observed 3 vehicles on fire, Morden Fire and Rescue attended and no injuries were reported.
While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle swerve within its lane several times. Police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.
November 25th, 2023
While on general patrol, conducted a traffic stop on 7th and Thornhill Street. Police detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver and made the demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a fail reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administration penalty.
Police received a report of an intoxicated male refusing to leave a residence. Police attended and found the 18-year-old male to be causing a disturbance. The male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and was released without charges once sober.
