November 28th – December 5th 2022

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • Two tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • Five tickets for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
  • One ticket for Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in a Vehicle which carries a fine of $237
  • Three tickets for Use a Cellular Telephone or other Handheld Device while Operating a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $672 and a 3-day license suspension.
  • One ticket for overtake and pass on right in an unsafe manner, namely at a crosswalk intersection.

November 28th, 2022

At 7:35 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated male who was causing a disturbance. When police arrived they knew this man to be on conditions to not consume alcohol and he was arrested for Failing to Comply with his Undertaking.  He was released once sober on an Appearance Notice to attend Morden Provincial Court in February.

November 29th, 2022

At 10:00 pm, police were dispatched to a local business regarding a male who was banned from the property and refusing to leave.  Police spoke to the male who was intoxicated and speaking nonsensical.  The 38-year-old Morden resident was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.  He was released without charges.

December 2nd, 2022

While on general patrol, police located a vehicle with stolen Ontario plates. Police activated emergency lights to which the vehicle pulled over, the male driver was arrested for Possess Property Obtained by Crime. The 23-year-old male also had an outstanding Warrant for Arrest and Driving Prohibition from Winkler Police Service. He was released with an Appearance Notice to appear at Morden Provincial Court in February.

At 10:30 pm, police received a report of a male causing a disturbance in a local business. Police located the male who was intoxicated and on conditions to not consume alcohol. The male was arrested and charged with Failing to Comply with his Undertaking. He was released once sober on an Appearance Notice.

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver. The demand was made for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty. The male also received a ticket for Drive Unregistered which carries a fine of $298.

December 3rd, 2022

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and the demand was made for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening Device, which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.

On general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and could smell the odor of liquor coming from the driver’s breath. When police asked the suspect to complete the roadside screening the suspect refused and was arrested for refusal to provide a breath sample and released on an Undertaking.
