October 16th, 2023 – October 23rd, 2023

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • Four tickets for Driver not Wearing a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for Speeding (154 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $756 and a Serious Offence Notice
  • Seventeen tickets for Speeding

October 16th, 2023

At 9:00 am, police were dispatched to a residence regarding a male who was in the house but was on conditions not to attend that residence.  Police attended and spoke to the resident who advised that the male had left.  The 50 year-old male later attended the Morden Police Service and was arrested for Failing to Comply with his Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice to attend Morden Provincial Court in December.

At 4:30 pm, police observed a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 1st Street and Thornhill Street.  A eastbound vehicle was travelling on Thornhill Street when a westbound vehicle turned left onto Route 100 causing a collision.  No one was injured and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

October 17th, 2023

Police received a report of mischief to a camper.  The caller advised that sometime overnight someone entered their camper that was parked up at the Morden Campground and damaged items inside.  Police are continuing their investigation.

October 21st, 2023

Police received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle while parked on Stephen Street.  The caller advised that their vehicle was parked on the driveway of the residence and sometime overnight someone entered the vehicle and took money and bank cards from inside the vehicle. Police are continuing their investigation.

October 22nd, 2023

At 6:35 am, police conducted a traffic stop on Mountain Street and observed an odor of liquor coming from the driver.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.  The driver was also issued a ticket for Drive and Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298, and a ticket for Fail to Comply with Licence Restriction which carries a fine of $203.
