During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- Four tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- Three tickets for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day Motor Vehicle Seizure
- Thirty-two tickets for Speeding
- Twenty-seven tickets for Driver Not Wearing a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Drive without Holding a Valid Driver’s Licence which carries a fine of $298
- Eight tickets for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
- Two By-Law tickets for Parked Contrary to Signage which carries a fine of $150
- One ticket for Use of Cellular Telephone while driving which carries a fine of $672 and a 3-day driving suspension.
- Two tickets for Failing to Stop at a Railway Crossing which a stop sign is erect which carries a fine of $298
October 22nd, 2024
At 4:00 pm, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Thornhill Street and 3rd Street. A vehicle was stopped waiting to make a left-hand turn onto 3rd Street when it was rear-ended by another vehicle in the same lane. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
October 25th, 2024
Police received a report of a fraud. The caller advised that they purchased an item on “Varagesale” and sent an etransfer to the seller. When they attended to pick the item up the homeowner advised that they had the wrong address. The caller attempted to message the seller back but the account had already been deleted. Police would like to remind the public to never etransfer money until they have the item and confirm the seller is legitimate.
October 26th, 2024
Police received a report of a male failing to follow conditions of a Protection Order. On two separate occasions, the male was reported to have approached and followed an individual protected under the conditions of a Protection Order. A 46 year-old Morden-resident was arrested and released on an Appearance Notice to appear in Morden Provincial Court in January.
October 27th, 2024
At 4:00 pm, police received a report of an intoxicated aggressive male in a local establishment. The caller requested the male and his group removed from the property. Police attended and all parties left the establishment without further incident.
October 30th, 2024
Police were dispatched to a local motel regarding damaged property. When police arrived on scene they found a male damaging a rented room and causing a disturbance. The male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and placed in cells until sober. The male paid for the damages and no charges were laid as a result.
At 6:30pm, police were dispatched to a local residence for an intoxicated female causing a disturbance. Police attended and subsequently arrested a 54-year-old female under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. She was lodged in police cells until sober and released without charges.
October 31st, 2024
While on general patrol, police observed an argument between two individuals. As police approached to speak with them one of the subjects fled on foot and attempted to hide. A 31-year-old female was located by police and found to be highly intoxicated. The female was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, lodged in police cells until sober and released without charges.
November 2nd, 2024
At 10:30pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated male causing a disturbance in the front yard. Police arrived on scene and arrested a 30-year-old male under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. He was lodged in police cells until sober and released without charges.
