September 18th, 2023 – October 3rd, 2023

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • Four tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • Two tickets for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day vehicle impound
  • Twelve tickets for Speeding
  • One ticket for Failing to Stop at a Railway Crossing which carries a fine of $298
  • One By-Law ticket for Parking in a No Parking Zone which carries a fine of $150
  • One By-Law ticket for Animal Wandering at Large which carries a fine of $150
  • One By-Law ticket for Allow a Dog to Bite, Attack or Worry a Person or other Animal which carries a fine of $150
  • Two tickets for Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign which carries a fine of $298

September 20th, 2023

Police received a report of an assault that occurred earlier that evening at a local park. Police spoke to the victims who confirmed they were assaulted and wished to proceed with charges. A female Morden resident was arrested for assault, uttering threats and mischief and released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in November.

September 22nd, 2023

Police were dispatched to Thornhill and 1st street for a two-vehicle collision. No injuries were reported, information was exchanged and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

September 25th, 2023

At 12:20 pm, police received a call requesting assistance with a male who was having suicidal thoughts.  Police attended and spoke to the male who was subsequently transported by EMS to a healthcare facility for an assessment.

September 26th, 2023

Police were dispatched to the Morden skatepark regarding a female who was on conditions to not attend the skatepark and have no contact with the complainant.  Police attended and arrested a female youth for failing to comply with her undertaking.  She was released on an Appearance Notice to attend Morden Provincial Court in November.

September 27th, 2023

At 6:35 am, police received a call regarding an intoxicated female who had no place to stay.  Police attended and arrested her under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.  She was lodged in cells until sober and released without charges.

September 29th, 2023

At 1:00 am, police were on general patrol when a female stepped onto the highway and started swearing at police.  Police pulled over to speak to the female who was heavily intoxicated and had nowhere to stay.  She was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.  She was released without charges.

October 2nd, 2023

At 4:10 pm, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a cyclist at the intersection of 7th Street and Thornhill Street.  Police attended and spoke to the driver of the vehicle who reports that she was travelling westbound on Thornhill Street.  The driver of the vehicle stopped at the intersection of 7th Street as she thought the cyclist was going to drive in front of her.  The cyclist drove into the side of her vehicle causing damage to the vehicle.  The cyclist told the driver of the vehicle that he was fine and left without exchanging information with the vehicle driver.
