During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- Eight tickets for Speeding
- Four tickets for Driver not Wearing a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Disobey a Traffic Control Device Namely a Red Light which carries a fine of $203
- One ticket for Disobey a Traffic Control Device Namely a Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
- One ticket for Use a Cellular Telephone or other Handheld Device while Operating a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $672 and a three-day license suspension
- Two tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Drive without valid Driver’s License which carries a fine of $298
June 17th, 2024
Police received a report of a theft from a local business. The female suspect was identified and had been previously banned from the business. The business requested that police issue a warning to the female, and no charges were laid as a result of this incident.
June 20th, 2024
At 11:00 am, police were dispatched to a disturbance at a local business. Police attended and spoke to one of the males involved who advised he was punched in the mouth by another male. He requested police issue a caution to the suspect for the assault. Police located the suspect and issued a caution.
June 22nd, 2024
While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle swerve within its lane several times. Police conducted a traffic stop and observed open cans of beer on the floor in the backseat of the vehicle. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty. He was also issued a ticket for As a Novice Driver operate a Motor Vehicle with Alcohol in the Blood which carries a fine of $113 and Carry Open Liquor in a Vehicle which carries a fine of $237.
While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a “warn” reading. The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.
At 2:10 am, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an assault in progress. Police attended and spoke to the victim who advised he had been punched by his common law. The 27 year-old female was arrested and charged with Assault. She was released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Provincial Court in September.
At 7:05 am, police received a call to conduct a well being check on a couple who were staying at a local hotel. Police attended and spoke to both parties and it was determined that they were fine. Subsequent checks of the male showed that he was not complying with conditions of his Conditional Sentence Order. The 29 year-old Winnipeg resident was arrested and remanded into custody.
At 2:00 pm, police received a call regarding a female who was on conditions to not contact the caller. The caller advised that she had contacted him several times and attended his apartment causing damage. The 27 year-old female was located and arrested for Failing to Comply with an Undertaking. She was released on an Appearance Notice to attend Morden Provincial Court in September.
At 9:10 pm, a male flagged down police to turn himself in for Failing to Comply an Undertaking. He was on conditions to abstain from the consumption of alcohol and he was heavily intoxicated. He was arrested for Failing to Comply with an Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice once sober.
