At 8:47 am, police were dispatched to 12th Street and Thornhill Street for a two motor vehicle collision. A black 2019 Kia Forte was attempting to make an eastbound turn off of 12th Street onto Thornhill Street and pulled in front of and collided with a white 2019 Peterbilt Truck that was travelling westbound on Thornhill Street. The driver of the Kia Forte was transported to Boundary Trails Health Centre for treatment and her vehicle was towed from the scene. She received a ticket for Proceed Before Safe to Do So which carries a fine of $174. The driver of the garbage truck, who sustained minor injuries to his left hand, was issued a verbal warning for not wearing a seatbelt and was issued a ticket for Use Cellular Telephone or other Hand Operated Electronic Device While Driving. This ticket carries a fine of $672 and a three-day driver’s license suspension.
Police received a report of a hit and run that happened on January 16th. The caller stated that they had sold an item to an individual who backed into their parked vehicle and drove away. The victim’s grey 2012 Honda CRV received damage to the driver-side front quarter panel. Police were able to locate the driver of a black 2004 Chrysler Pacifica who was unaware that they had hit the CRV.
At 12:25 pm, police received a call of a structure fire at a residence on Southdale Street. When police arrived, Morden Fire and Rescue was already on scene and they informed police that a small fire had started in a basement kitchen after the food was left on the stove. All occupants were able to get out of the residence and there were no injuries reported.
Morden Police Service received a call from a female stating that her boyfriend was at her residence and harassing her. She stated that he had already left on foot and was unsure of his location. Police located the male a short while later and found him to be on condition not to communicate with the victim. A 33-year-old male from Morden was charged with Fail to Comply with Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice. He will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court in April.
