At 5:43 am, police were dispatched to the McDonald’s parking lot in regards to a possible impaired driver. The caller stated that the driver had driven over the curb and was hung up and revving the engine. Police attended and located the vehicle facing east with both front tires over the curb. The driver was found slouched over in a sleeping position with the vehicle running. When police approached the vehicle, a strong odour of liquor was detected and police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of his breath on the Roadside Screening Device which resulted in a fail reading. The driver was issued a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle, a 90-day driving suspension and a $700 Administrative Penalty.
Morden Police Service received a call from a woman requesting a well-being check on her mother who had made vague suicidal comments while talking on the phone. Police contacted the mother and determined that she did not require police assistance.
At 7:20 pm, police received a report of a vehicle that had been driving erratically. When police located the vehicle, they noticed drug paraphernalia located in various places inside the vehicle. A 27-year-old female driver was arrested and charged for Possession of Cocaine. She was released on an Appearance Notice and will appear in Morden Provincial Court in April. She also received a ticket for Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis which carries a fine of $237 and a ticket for Drive Unregistered which carries a fine of $298.
