On July 11th, 2021 members of the Morden Police Service conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Hwy #3 and Hwy #14. Police observed the passenger to be acting in a suspicious manner and further checks revealed the driver had an invalid licence. Through a subsequent investigation, and with the assistance of members of the Winkler Police Service, police arrested both the driver and the passenger for Trafficking Methamphetamine. During a search of the vehicle and the two accused, police located several small bags believed to contain methamphetamine, a baggie containing a substance believed to be Fentanyl, a syringe containing an unknown substance, a scale, cellphones, cash and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.
As a result of this incident, a 40-year-old female resident of Carman and a 23-year-old male resident of Carman are facing charges of Possession of Controlled Substances for the Purpose of Trafficking re: Methamphetamine and Fentanyl and Possession of Goods Obtained by a Crime. Both accused were released on conditions to appear in Morden Provincial Court in October 2021. Police continue to investigate this matter with further charges pending.
