During this reporting period, MPS:
- Conducted 2 compliance check for travelers who were under a Mandatory Isolation Order.
During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- One ticket for Speeding (45 km/hr in a 30 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $246
- One ticket for Speeding (46 km/hr in a 30 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $259
- One ticket for Speeding (68 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $285
- One ticket for Operate a Motor Vehicle with an Unauthorized Number Plate which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Fail to Notify the Registar of Change of Address for Driver’s Licence within 15 days of change which carries a fine of $143
- One ticket for Improper Equipment namely head and tail lamps must be lighted which carries a fine of $174
- Nine tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Tow an Unregistered Trailer which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in a Vehicle which carries a fine of $237
- Three tickets for Drive Without a valid Driver’s Licence which carries a fine of $298
- Seven tickets for Passing an Emergency Vehicle Engaged in Prescribed Activity While Using Emergency Equipment, Fail to Comply with Speed Requirements which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Passing an Emergency Vehicle Engaged in Prescribed Activity While Using Emergency Equipment, Fail to Move into a Farther Lane which carries a fine of $298
October 12th, 2021
Police received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle which occurred sometime overnight on October 7th. The caller advised he left his truck on his driveway on Glenview Drive and the next morning noticed his truck had been rummaged through and some items were missing.
Police received a warrant of arrest for 55-year-old Clarence Wayne MCPHERSON for one count of Operate While Impaired by Drug and one count of Fail to Attend Court.
October 13th, 2021
Police issued a warrant of arrest for 19-year-old Devon Morgan for failing to attend Morden Police Service for Identification on October 12th, 2021.
Police issued a warrant of arrest for 46-year-old Jodie Leigh Sparrow for failing to attend Morden Police Service for Identification on October 12th, 2021.
At 12:30 pm, police were on general patrol when they witnessed a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Thornhill Street and 5th Street. A west bound vehicle was making a left hand turn onto 5th Street and was struck by a vehicle travelling east on Thornhill Street. Neither party were injured, and police assisted with exchanging particulars.
October 14th, 2021
Police received a report of a hit and run to a vehicle that occurred on September 24th between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm while parked on 4th Street. The driver parked his 2007 black Ford Mustang and returned to find damage to the rear bumper.
Police received a report of an individual entering a school and failing to follow current public health orders. This individual had been spoken to previously about the requirement to wear a mask while inside the school. Police subsequently issued a ticket for Fail to Comply with a Public Health Emergency Order which carries a fine of $298.
October 15th, 2021
At 4:20 am, police were dispatched to a residence regarding a domestic assault. Police attended and spoke to the victim who advised her husband assaulted her and then left the residence. The 26-year-old Morden resident was later located and arrested for one count of Assault and released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Provincial Court in December.
Police were dispatched to a local business regarding a shoplifting incident which occurred on October 14th. Police are continuing their investigation.
At 2:25 pm, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the corner of Mountain Street and Conner Hill Drive. A vehicle stopped at the stop sign at the corner of Mountain Street and Conner Hill Drive and proceeded to make a left hand turn onto Mountain Street turning in front of a south bound vehicle on Mountain Street. EMS and Morden Fire attended the scene and both drivers declined medical attention. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
October 16th, 2021
At 12:05 am, police were participating in a Manitoba Public Insurance Impaired Driving check stop when they observed a vehicle travelling with no front license plate. Police pulled the vehicle over and believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver subsequently provided breath samples on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day vehicle impoundment along with a $700 administrative penalty.
At 4:45 am, police were dispatched to the area of Glenview Drive as the caller advised she observed a group of males running through her neighbor’s yards. Police attended the area and located a group matching the description. The males were spoken to but denied being on anyone’s property.
Police received a report of theft under $5000 from a local business. Police are continuing their investigation.
At 10:20 pm, police received a request to do a well being check on a male who could be heard yelling in his residence. Police attended and spoke to the male who advised he was yelling on the phone and that he was fine.
October 17th, 2021
At 9:50 pm, police were dispatched to a residence for an individual that was suicidal. Police and EMS arrived on scene and the individual was transported to a medical healthcare facility for treatment.
