January 27th, 2025
At 10:30 pm, police received a call from a male who advised that he was impaired and did not feel safe in his home. Police attended and spoke with the male who was visibly intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The 32 year old Morden resident was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
January 28th, 2025
Police received a report of a male with an unleashed dog at Minnewasta Lake. The caller advised the male that this was not the place for a dog off it’s leash and the male started to yell profanities and threats at her. She left the area. Residents are reminded that within the city of Morden by-laws Dogs must always be on a leash of 2 metres (6 feet) in length or less when fully extended when off their property.
January 29th, 2025
At 2:40 pm, police were dispatched to the intersection of Thornhill Street and Route 100 for a motor vehicle collision. A red Dodge Grand Caravan was travelling east bound on Thornhill Street and collided with a black Mercedes Benz turning south onto Route 100. One occupant was transported to a health care facility for observation and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Police received a report of a fraud where the caller lost a large sum of money. The caller advised that he invested money with a company and has since realized that this was a scam. Police are continuing their investigation.
At 12:35 am, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated female causing a disturbance. The female was reported to be outside laying in the parking lot. Police arrived on scene to find a 54-year-old female who was highly intoxicated and had nowhere to stay. She was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. She was released without charges.
At 10:40 am, police received a call regarding two intoxicated people arguing in the hallway of an apartment building. Police attended and while speaking to the people the female punched the male. The female was arrested by police however the male did not want charges for Assault. The 54-year-old female was intoxicated and had nowhere to stay. She was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. She was released without charges.
January 31st, 2025
Police received a report of a hit and run that occurred between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm while parked in a parking lot on North Railway Street. The caller parked his grey GMC Sierra and returned to find damage to the right rear fender.
February 1st, 2025
At 3:15 am, police observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and nearly caused a collision with the police vehicle. Police conducted a traffic stop and observed an odor of liquor coming from the vehicle. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.
Police received a report of people yelling at a residence. Police attended and spoke to the occupants who advised they had been arguing but everything was fine. Police received a second call 30 minutes later about the couple arguing again. The 25-year-old male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
