During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- Twenty five tickets for Speeding
- Two tickets for Drive Imprudently which carries a fine of $203
- One ticket for Passing Emergency Vehicle Engaged in Prescribed Activity and Using Emergency Lamps fail to Comply with Speed Requirement which carries a fine of $298
- Five tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- Two tickets for Drive Without Holding a Valid Driver’s Licence which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Novice Driver in the Learner Stage, Operate a Class 5 Vehicle without a Supervising Driver which carries a fine of $203
- One ticket for Improper Equipment namely studded tires which carries a fine of $174
- One ticket for Operate a Vehicle with Number Plate Obstructed which carries a fine of $203
- One ticket for Drive Motor Vehicle without Wearing a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
- One By-Law ticket for Creating a Noise Nuisance by Shouting which carries a fine of $100
June 16th, 2025
At 8:05 pm, police were dispatched to an apartment complex regarding a male who was yelling and screaming at people outside. Police attended and located the male who was highly intoxicated. The 53 year-old male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells. He was released when sober the next day without charges.
June 17th, 2025
While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle travelling at a fast rate of speed and failing to stop at a stop sign. Police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the vehicle. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 fine. The driver was also issued a ticket for Disobey Traffic Control Device (Stop Sign) which carries a fine of $237 and a ticket for as a Novice Driver Operate a Motor Vehicle while Having Alcohol in the Blood which carries a fine of $113.
June 20th, 2025
Police received a report of theft from a motor vehicle that occurred sometime overnight in the 200 block of 2nd Street. The suspect stole the victim’s wallet along with other items and used their debit card at several locations. Police are continuing their investigation.
Police received a report of a scam where the caller received a text message from someone who he believed to be his boss asking him to purchase gift cards. The caller purchased the cards and provided the gift card information to the scammer. Police are continuing their investigation.
June 23rd, 2025
Police received a report of some graffiti on sheds at the intersection of Thornhill Street and 11th Street. There are no suspects at this time and anyone with information is encouraged to contact MPS.
June 24th, 2025
At 10:20 am, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with a cyclist. The cyclist was travelling east bound on the sidewalk along Stephen Street and the vehicle was entering the intersection at 6th Street and Stephen. The cyclist was struck by the vehicle and fell off her bike. The cyclist had minor injuries and was checked and released by paramedics at the scene.
June 27th, 2025
At 3:20 am, police were dispatched to a residence regarding a structure fire. EMS and Morde Fire and Rescue were also on scene and all occupants were safely evacuated from the residence. The fire was extinguished and no one was injured.
At 4:35 am, police received a call regarding two people fighting and trying to break a window. Police attended and located the suspects who were highly intoxicated and walking in the middle of the street. They were both arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells. They were released when sober without charges.
While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle and observed an open can of beer in the front passenger door. The driver was arrested for Unlawful Transportation of Liquor in a Motor Vehicle. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located a quantity of individually bagged cocaine, cash and more open liquor. The male was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and released on an Undertaking to attend to Court in September. He also received a ticket for Unlawful Transportation of Liquor in a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $237.
At 11:45 pm, police observed a male at the entrance to a local establishment and is known by police to be banned from attending that address. The male fled on his bicycle and police gave chase for several blocks. After a short foot pursuit the accused was arrested by police and later charged with two counts of Fail to Comply with an Undertaking and Resist Arrest. He was subsequently remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg courts on June 30th.
June 28th, 2025
While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stopp and observed an odor of liquor coming from the driver. At 11:30 pm, police received a report of a motor vehicle theft from Winkler. The caller was following the vehicle into Morden and it was intercepted by police. The two females who were in the vehicle were arrested for Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. One female was remanded into custody and the second female was released on an Undertaking to Attend to court in September.
July 1st, 2025
At 7:45 pm, police were dispatched to a residence to conduct a wellbeing check on a female. Police attended and spoke to the female who was fine and cooperative with police. At 2:10 am, police were called back to the residence as the same female was arguing with her neighbor. She was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, lodged in cells and released when sober without charges.
July 2nd, 2025
At 2:25 am, police were dispatched to the Minnewasta Golf Course regarding three females who were being harassed and chased by a male. Police attended and observed the females running up the hill and identified a male suspect on a bicycle who was chasing them. The male was arrested for Criminal Harassment and released on an Undertaking for court in October.
