January 26th, 2026 – February 9th, 2026

During this reporting period, MPS issued: 

  • Two tickets for Drive without holding a valid Driver’s Licence which carries a fine of $298 
  • One ticket for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298 
  • Eleven tickets for Speeding 
  • Two tickets for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day Motor Vehicle Seizure 
  • One ticket for As a Holder of a Restricted Licence, Drive a Motor Vehicle not equipped with an Approved Ignition Interlock Device which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day Motor Vehicle Seizure 

January 26th, 2026 

Police received a report of a hit and run accident that occurred on January 23rd .  A Honda Civic was parked on Gilmour Street and a Ford F150 backed off a driveway and hit the Civic causing damage to the driver’s side of the car.  The suspect driver was charged with As a Driver of a Vehicle involved in an Accident, Fail to Leave Information which carries a fine of $203 and Operate a Motor Vehicle without Owner’s Consent which carries a fine of $298. 

At 10:15 am, police were dispatched to a local business regarding two males who left the business without paying for their merchandise.  The business requested that both suspects be banned from entering their store.  Police located and issued banning notices to both suspects. 

January 28th, 2026 

At 5:00 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding a male who was intoxicated and the caller wanted him removed. The 37-year-old male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges. 

January 29th, 2026 

Police received a complaint regarding a vehicle that was stopped in traffic on Nelson Street at the intersection of Thornhill Street.  The vehicle pulled into the oncoming lane and drove past all the vehicles waiting at the intersection.  This vehicle then stopped at the intersection blocking a vehicle attempting to turn onto Nelson Street.  Police are continuing their investigation. 

Police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated female who was refusing to leave and threatening to harm herself.  Police attended and spoke to the female who was subsequently transported to a healthcare facility for an assessment. 

At 8:15 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an intoxicated female who was banging on the door and refusing to leave.  Police attended and arrested the 45-year old female under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. She was lodged in cells until sober and released without charges.
