During this reporting period, MPS:

  • One ticket for Speeding (118 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $285
  • One ticket for Speeding (75 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $378
  • One ticket for Speeding (74 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $364
  • One ticket for Speeding (81 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $456
  • One ticket for Speeding (71 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $325
  • One ticket for Speeding (80 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $442
  • One ticket for Speeding (94 km/hr in a 70 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $364
  • Four tickets for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely red light which carries a fine of $203

December 7th, 2021

At 1:15 pm, police received a report of kids walking through the complainant’s yard and causing damage to his fence.  Police spoke to the kids’ mother who advised her kids were using this route as a shortcut to get home.  She would advise her children not to walk through people’s yards.

December 9th, 2021

Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver leaving the City of Winkler.  The vehicle was located in Morden and police conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle.  An odor of liquor was coming from the vehicle and police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a “fail” reading.  The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day vehicle impound along with a $700 administrative penalty. 

December 12th, 2021

At 1:00 am, police received a call regarding a male walking down Gilmour Street yelling.  Police located the male who was heavily intoxicated and having difficulty walking and talking.  The male refused to give police his name and was subsequently arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.  Following his arrest, the suspect provided his name and date of birth and after subsequent checks it was discovered that he had several warrants for his arrest from other agencies.  The male was also on conditions to reside at a specified address.  The 25-year-old Morden resident was charged with one count of Fail to Comply with Release Order and was released on a Release Order to attend to Morden Provincial Court in January.

At 2:15 am, police received a call regarding a stolen vehicle.  The caller advised he parked his vehicle in a parking lot behind a business and left the keys in the ignition.  When he returned to his vehicle approximately 15 minutes later, it was gone.  This vehicle was later located by the RCMP and police are continuing their investigation.

At 11:15 pm, police were dispatched to an apartment complex regarding an intoxicated male trying to get into apartments.  Police attended and located the male inside one of the apartments.  He advised he was trying to find which apartment his friend lived in.  The male agreed to leave the property.
