During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • Fourteen tickets for Speeding
  • Six tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for Driver Fail to Produce Licence which carries a fine of $113
  • Two tickets for Driver Fail to Wear Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for Fail to Display the Correct Number Plate which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for As the Holder of a Class 6L Licence drive a vehicle between half an hour before sunset and half an hour after sunrise which carries a fine of $203
  • One ticket for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
  • Seven tickets for Fail to Stop at Railway Crossing with Stop Sign which carries a fine of $298
  • One By-Law ticket for parking in a no parking zone which carries a fine of $150
  • One By-Law ticket for parking facing oncoming traffic which carries a fine of $150
  • One ticket for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672

July 2nd, 2024

On July 2nd, 2024 at 5:30 pm members of the Morden Police Service conducted a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle on 7th Street near North Railway Street as part of an ongoing drug investigation.  The male driver was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.  A search of the vehicle was conducted and police located Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Cocaine, a hatchet, pepper spray, items related to drug trafficking and cash.  The suspect was taken into custody and as a result of this investigation, 46 year-old Morden resident Travis HALL has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Goods Obtained by Crime, two counts of Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order.  The accused was remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court .

July 5th, 2024

While on general patrol, police observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot of a local business with a male sleeping in the backseat of the vehicle.  While speaking with police the male was talking non-sensical and police observed items in the vehicle consistent with drug use.  A search of the vehicle was conducted by PSD Ice and police located Methamphetamine and items related to drug-trafficking.  The 24 year-old RM of Louise resident was subsequently charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine and released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in September.

July 7th, 2024

At 1:30 pm, police were dispatched to a local business regarding an attempted break and enter.  The owner advised that someone attempted to break into their storage shed but they did not gain entry.

July 11th, 2024

At 7:00am, police were dispatched to a male who had fallen into a ditch. Police attended and found the male to laying down and claimed to be resting. Upon trying to stand up the male was unsuccessful and was transported by EMS to a local hospital.

July 13th, 2024

Police were dispatched to a local establishment for a report of assault. Police spoke to the victim who had visible bruising and confirmed the assault. A 29-year-old male was arrested for Assault and released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Provincial Court in September.

July 14th, 2024

At 1:00am, police were dispatched to a local establishment for a report of assault. Police arrived on scene and arrested a 36-year-old male for Assault. He was released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Provincial Court in September.

At 1:05am, police were dispatched to a noise complaint at a residence. Police arrived on scene and found no one home or in the yard, but observed a motorcycle with 2 males riding down the sidewalk. The motorcycle lost control after passing police and both males sustained injuries. The males were transported by EMS to a local hospital and believed to be under the influence of alcohol. The investigation is ongoing.
