September 27th, 2021
Police received a report of a hit and run to a 2015 white Dodge Grand Caravan that occurred on September 23rd at 3:00 pm while it was parked in a parking lot near the corner of Route 100 and Stephen Street. The owner was in the vehicle when a white Pontiac Montana hit their van and left without stopping to exchange particulars. Damage was located on the rear passenger side bumper.
Police received a report of a hit and run to a 2014 grey Ford Focus that occurred on September 25th while the vehicle was parked on the owner’s driveway on Rampton Street. The owner observed damage to the driver’s side rear door and taillight.
At 3:50 pm, police received a report of a bicycle theft from a local business. Police attended the business to watch the video of the offence and were able to identify the suspect. The victim did not wish to pursue charges and just wanted her bicycle returned. Police located the suspect and issued a warning to them for the theft. The bike was returned to its owner.
At 6:30 pm, police were dispatched to a local business regarding a female who was inside the store and currently banned from their property. Police attended and subsequent checks showed that the female was on conditions to observe an absolute curfew. The 42 year old Morden resident was arrested and charged with two counts of Failing to Comply with a Release Order. She was remanded into custody.
September 28th, 2021
At 3:50 pm, police received a report of a vehicle driving through a red light and almost hitting the caller’s child. The caller was crossing Thornhill Street at the intersection with 11th Street when a car started to make a right hand turn onto 11th. The vehicle then made a sudden turn back on to Thornhill Street and almost hit the child as they crossed the street. Police located the suspect who was issued a warning for their driving.
September 30th, 2021
At 11:00 am, police received a request to conduct a well being check on a male who the caller had been unable to reach for a while. Police attended and located the male who was fine.
At 3:50 pm, police were dispatched to a local business regarding a group of kids on scooters in the parking lot. The caller requested that police ask the kids to leave their property. Police attended and spoke to the group and they advised they would find another place to go.
October 1st, 2021
At 8:00 am, police received a request to conduct a well being check on a male. Police attended and located the male who was fine.
At 3:30 am, police were on general patrol when they observed a vehicle driving backwards at a fast rate of speed in a parking lot. Police activated their emergency lights and approached the vehicle. The vehicle started rolling toward the police cruiser at which time the driver held up the ignition keys. Police ordered the driver to step on the brakes and the vehicle stopped before hitting the police cruiser. It was subsequently learned that the driver was underage and had stolen the vehicle. All three youths in the vehicle were arrested for Theft of Motor Vehicle and brought to the Morden Police Service station. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and did not wish to proceed with Theft charges. The driver was issued a ticket for Drive Without Holding a Valid Driver’s Licence which carries a fine of $298.
October 2nd, 2021
At 2:15 am, police were dispatched to a local business regarding a hit and run accident. Police attended and spoke to witnesses who observed a white Ford Fusion back into a grey Honda Civic in the parking lot behind the business. The driver of the suspect vehicle was identified and issued a ticket for As a Drive of a Vehicle Involved in an Accident, Fail to Give Information to a Person whose Property is Damage as a Result of the Accident which carries a fine of $203.
October 3rd, 2021
At 11:30 am, police were dispatched to a residence regarding a male shooting a crow. Police attended and spoke to the male who advised he shot the crow with a pellet gun. Police cautioned the male and informed him of the City of Morden bylaw regarding discharging firearms in the City.
