During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- Three tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle
- One ticket for Speeding
- One ticket for Drive without a License
April 26th, 2022
Police received a report of an altercation at a parking lot on North Railway Street. The caller advised there was a parking dispute and a suspect spit on the caller’s vehicle as a result. Police spoke with the suspect and warned them regarding their behaviour. No charges were laid as a result.
At 11:00 pm, police attempted to stop a vehicle near 7th Street and Stephen Street. The vehicle, a grey truck, refused to stop for police travelling east on Thornhill Street then south on Route 100. The vehicle was travelling at dangerous speeds and was last seen southbound on Road 27W in the RM of Stanley. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service.
April 28th, 2022
Police received a report of an accused not following the conditions of their Undertaking. Police learned the accused attended the victim’s residence in January, which contravenes his release conditions not to attend the victim’s residence. The accused eventually broke the doorbell and was confronted by another adult in the residence before eventually leaving. The accused was subsequently arrested by police and later released to attend Morden Provincial Court in June.
At 3:30 pm, police received a report of a suspicious male in the 100-block of Gilmour Street. The complainants advised they were driving on Gilmour Street and the male threw an object at their car as they passed. The complainants stopped and confronted the male. The male then produced an object from his pocket and threated to “taze” the complainants. The complainants fled the area and later reported the incident to police. On April 30 at 11:15 pm, police located the accused and arrested him without incident. The accused was processed and later released with an Undertaking on charges of Assault with a Weapon, Utter Threats, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
April 29th, 2022
At 11:15 pm, police conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Thornhill Street. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on a Roadside Screening device which resulted in a “fail” reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.
April 30th, 2022
At 1:45 am, police conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Thornhill Street. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on a Roadside Screening device which resulted in a “warn” reading. The driver was issued a 15-day driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $500 administrative penalty.
At 3:30 am, police responded to the 400-block of 4th Street regarding a disturbance at a residence involving a knife. Police attended and quickly took the intoxicated suspect into custody. Police learned an argument escalated to the point the accused began damaging the residence and stabbing a door. The accused was subsequently transported to MPS where she was lodged until sober and then released on an Undertaking with a court date in July for Mischief and Utter Threats.
At 6:00 pm, police responded to an assault complaint at an apartment building on Stephen Street. The complainant advised they were confronted by a tenant and punched. Another tenant attempted to intervene and was punched as well. Police subsequently located and arrested the accused for assault. The accused was found to be intoxicated and was lodged in cells until sober and then released on an Undertaking with a July court date.
May 1st, 2022
At 8:40 pm, police responded to a disturbance at a licenced premise on North Railway Street. Police learned the suspect was causing issues and was banned from the premise. Police subsequently located the accused at another location and found her to have a warrant for her arrest. The accused was arrested, processed and later released with a July court date.
