August 6th, 2024 – August 12th, 2024

During this reporting period, MPS issued:  

  • Nine tickets for Speeding 
  • One ticket for Failing to Move to a Farther Lane when Passing an Emergency Vehicle Engaged in a Prescribed Activity which carries a fine of $298 
  • One ticket for Fail to Produce a Licence which carries a fine of $113 
  • Ten tickets for Operate a Vehicle with Obscured Number Plate which carries a fine of $203 
  • Two tickets for Improper Side Window Tinting which carries a fine of $174 
  • Two tickets for Use a Cellular Telephone or other Handheld Device while Operating a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $672 and a three-day license suspension 
  • Two tickets for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Red Light which carries a fine of $203  
  • One ticket for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Right Turn Only which carries a fine of $203  
  • One ticket for Disobey a Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203 
  • Three tickets for Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in a Vehicle which carries a fine of $237 
  • Three tickets for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298 
  • Four tickets for Fail to Display the Correct Number Plate which carries a fine of $113 
  • One ticket for Drive Imprudently which carries a fine of $203 
  • One ticket for Drive a Vehicle without a Supervising Driver which carries a fine of $203 
  • Two tickets for Unlawful Transportation of Liquor in a Vehicle which carries a fine of $237 
  • One ticket for Make a U-Turn where not Permitted which carries a fine of $143 
  • One ticket for Drive without wearing a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298 
  • One ticket for Smoke Cannabis at an outdoor Public Place which carries a fine of $672 

August 6th, 2024 

At 12:20 pm, police received a report of a theft from a local business.  The owner advised that a female left the store without paying for several clothing items.  The suspect was located and arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.  The clothing items were located and returned to the business.  The suspect was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Provincial Court in October. 

August 8th, 2024 

While conducting a Manitoba Public Insurance check stop police conducted a traffic stop on an unregistered vehicle.  The driver did not have his driver’s licence with him and subsequent checks found that he was prohibited from driving.  He was arrested for Operate while Prohibited and released on an Appearance Notice for court in October.  He was also charged with Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672, Fail to Display the Correct Number and Type of Number Plate which carries a fine of $113, Drive without Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance which carries a fine of $672 and Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298. 

Police were dispatched to a residence regarding a disturbance.  Police attended and both parties were outside screaming at each other.  Police mediated the situation and no charges were laid. 

At 5:45 pm, police received a report of a black, yellow and orange Hyper mountain bike stolen overnight from a residence on Elam Street.  The bike was later located and returned to it’s owner. 

August 11th, 2024 

While conducting a Manitoba Public Insurance check stop police conducted a traffic stop and observed an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90 day driving suspension and a 30 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.
