During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- One ticket for Speeding (127 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $403
- One ticket for Speeding (129 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $429
- One ticket for Drive while Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day motor vehicle seizure
February 20th, 2024
Police received a report of mischief to a truck which occurred sometime overnight between February 1st and February 2nd. The caller advised that someone cut his box cover while it was parked on Red Oak Lane.
While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.
February 21st, 2024
Police received a report of a fraud. The victim advised that they were speaking with a male online who deposited cheques into the victim’s bank account. The victim then bought gift cards and provided the numbers for the gift cards to the suspect. The cheques were later cancelled and the victim is out the money for the gift cards.
February 22nd, 2024
Police received a report of mischief to a business on Thornhill Street. The complainant advised that someone threw a rock at a window breaking one of the panes of glass. No other damage was reported and no entry was gained to the business.
At 11:00 pm, police were dispatched to a local establishment regarding two intoxicated females fighting. Police attended and arrested one of the females for Assault. While attempting to place her in the police car she began resisting police by kicking at police and subsequently bite one of the officers. She was held in custody until sober and released on an Undertaking for Assault, Assault a Peace Officer and Resist Arrest.
February 24th, 2024
At 2:20 am, police received a report of theft from a motor vehicle. The victim advised that money and other items were stolen from the vehicle while parked in a parking lot on North Railway Street.
February 26th, 2024
Police received a report of a theft of a package from a residence on South Railway Street on February 23rd between 12:15 pm and 1:00 pm.
