During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • Four tickets for Fail to Comply with Public Health Emergency Order, namely Mask in a Public Place which carries a fine of $298

January 17th, 2022

Police received a report of an email fraud. The complainant advised that he had done contract work for a business and sent them an invoice through email. Shortly after, the victim learned that his emails had been intercepted and that a scammer was in contact with the business that owed him money.  The business ended up paying the scammer the money owed to the victim. Police are continuing to investigate this matter. Morden Police Service would like to remind the public that while e-transfers are generally safe, it is a good idea to confirm any transactions in person, before sending large sums of money.

January 18th, 2022

At 10:00 pm, police received a request for a well being check on a male as he had not been answering his phone for several days and the caller was worried for his safety. Police attended and spoke to the male who was fine.

January 20th, 2022

At 9:30 am, police received a request to conduct a well being check on a male who was angry on the phone and possibly throwing things around his residence.  Police attended and spoke to the male who advised that he was fine and that he had a minor disagreement with the caller.

January 21st, 2022

At 2:00 pm, police were dispatched to a business regarding a possible structure fire.  Police attended along with Morden Fire and EMS and the fire appeared to be out.  Morden Fire remained to access the scene.

Police received a report from an individual who advised that a large sum of money had been e-transferred from his bank account. Police continue to investigate.

At 3:10 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding a female youth who was intoxicated and threatening to harm herself.  Police located the female youth who advised that she was fine but had left as her mother was intoxicated and causing problems.  Police attended back to the residence with the female and all occupants were compliant and sober except for the caller.  The female youth was given a warning for consuming liquor under age.  Police spoke with the homeowner who was fine with everyone staying so long as there were no more issues.  A short time later police received a second call back to this residence regarding a highly intoxicated female causing problems.  Police attended and the 41 year-old female was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.  She was released without charges.

January 22nd, 2022

At 10:55 am, police were dispatched to a residence regarding 911 hang up calls.  The caller was located walking on the street and police noted she was intoxicated and was talking about being depressed.  The female was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and brought back to the Morden Police Service Office.  Once at the office she advised police that she had ingested several pain pills and police contacted EMS to attend to access the female.  EMS subsequently transported the female to a healthcare facility for an assessment. A short time later police were called to attend to the healthcare facility as the female had left the hospital before being assessed.  Police located the female and transported her back to the healthcare facility for an assessment.

January 23rd, 2022

At 5:30 am, police received a request to assist EMS with a male who was hallucinating and throwing things around the residence.  Police attended and the male was subsequently transported to a healthcare facility for an assessment.

At 9:10 am, police received a call regarding a female causing issues at the residence.  Police attended and spoke to the female who was subsequently transported to a healthcare facility for an assessment.

At 3:30 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding two vehicles on fire in the driveway.  Police attended along with the Morden Fire Department who extinguished the fire.

At 9:55 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an assault.  The caller advised that a male had beat her up and that he was upstairs being restrained by other occupants in the house.  Police attended and arrested the male youth who was charged with one count of Assault.  He was released on an Undertaking and will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court.
