January 29th, 2024 – February 5th, 2024

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day motor vehicle impound.

January 30th, 2024

At 12:00 pm, police were dispatched to a local business regarding a break, enter and theft.  The employee advised that sometime overnight someone broke into the business and stole money.  Police are continuing their investigation.

February 1st, 2024

While on general patrol police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle.  The vehicle failed to stop and accelerated quickly away from police.  After a short pursuit the vehicle stopped and a 33-year-old Winkler resident was arrested for Flight from a Peace Officer.  He was released on an Appearance Notice to attend Morden Provincial Court in April.  He was also charged with Drive Without a Valid Driver’s Licence which carries a fine of $298, and was served a Serious Offence Notice.

February 2nd, 2024

At 12:30 am, police observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a local business.  Officers recognized one of the occupants and learned that he was on conditions to follow a curfew.  The male passenger was arrested for Failing to Comply with an Undertaking and was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine.  The female driver was also on a curfew and arrested for Failing to Comply with an Undertaking.  Both suspects were later released on Appearance Notice’s to attend Morden Provincial Court.

At 2:50 pm, police observed a female who was known to have an arrest warrant.  She was arrested and police subsequently located a needle containing a clear substance believed to be Methamphetamine. The suspect was issued an Appearance Notice to attend to Morden Provincial Court in April. 

February 3rd, 2024

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading.  The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty. 

February 4th, 2024

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.
