January 3rd, 2022 – January 16th, 2022

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
  • One ticket for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Red Light which carries a fine of $203
  • One ticket for Drive Disqualified which carries a fine of $672
  • One ticket for Fail to comply with Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign at Railway Crossing which carries a fine of $298

January 5th, 2022

Police received a report of a hit and run to a vehicle that occurred that same day. The driver parked his GMC truck in a parking lot on North Railway and returned to find damage on the left rear of the truck. January 6th, 2022

Police were dispatched to an Intoxicated male on Elam Street causing a disturbance. The 28-year-old male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.

January 14th, 2023

Police were dispatched to a local residence of an intoxicated male who was known to be on conditions not to consume alcohol. Winkler Police Service members attended alongside Morden Police Service members, the male was arrested for Breach Release Order and Breach Probation. He was released the following morning on an Appearance Notice.

As people look for ways to stay active and enjoy the winter weather, MPS would like to remind residents to do so in a respectful and lawful manner. There are many public areas to enjoy different activities on and around Lake Minnewasta and the Dead Horse Creek, however venturing too far off the ice or trails could be trespassing. We would like to remind people to be respectful of property owners in and around these areas and ask that you respect their right to privacy and regulation of movement on their property.
