During this reporting period, Morden Police:

  • Conducted 7 compliance check for travelers who were under a Mandatory Isolation Order.

During this reporting period, Morden Police issued:

  • One ticket for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • Two tickets for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely red light which carries a fine of $203
  • Four tickets for Fail to Display Front License Plate which carries a fine of $113
  • One ticket for Passing an Emergency Vehicle Engaged in Prescribed Activity While Using Emergency Equipment, Fail to Move into a Farther Lane which carries a fine of $298
  • Three tickets for Speeding
  • One ticket for Use Cellular Telephone or Other Hand Operated Electronic Device While Driving which carries a fine of $672 and a three-day license suspension
  • Two tickets for Improper Side Window Tinting which carries a fine of $174

July 27th, 2021

Police received a warrant of arrest for 55 year-old Clarence Wayne McPherson for failing to attend Morden Provincial Court on July 27th, 2021.

Police received a warrant of arrest for a 46 year-old Altona resident for failing to attend Morden Provincial Court on July 27th, 2021.  She was arrested on this warrant and released on an Appearance Notice to attend to Morden Court in October.

At 3:00 pm, police received a report of a vehicle driving around a road closed barricade and travelling through a construction area.  Police are continuing their investigation.

At 10:50 pm, police received a complaint regarding a vehicle spinning rocks at the caller’s vehicle while he was sitting in a parking lot.  The suspect driver was located and issued a verbal warning for his driving.

July 28th, 2021

Police received a complaint of a historical sexual assault. This matter is currently under investigation.

At 6:00 pm, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the corner of Thornhill Street and Route 100.  A green Chevrolet Malibu was travelling east bound on Thornhill Street and struck a blue GMC Acadia travelling west bound on Thornhill Street making a left hand turn onto Route 100.  Police attended with fire and EMS and one of the drivers was transported to hospital for minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

July 29th, 2021

At 11:50 am, police received a call regarding a broken window at a residence.  The caller advised that sometime overnight on July 28th the top pane of glass on their outside screen door was broken.  Nothing else was damaged and no entry gained.

At 2:20 pm, police received a report of an email scam.  The caller advised that someone gained access to her email account and was sending out emails to her contact list asking for money.  She became aware of the issue when she received emails back from her contacts about this request.

A 35 year old male was required to attend to the Morden Police Service on June 24th, 2021 for the purpose of the Identification of Criminals Act. The male did not show up for his appointment and has been charged with Fail to Attend for Identification.

July 30th, 2021

At 1:00 pm, police received a report of a Mischief to a vehicle.  The 2017 white Ford F150 was parked in a parking lot on Wardrop Street from July 22, 2021 until today when the owner noticed the rear window was broken.  The vehicle was still locked and nothing was missing from the truck.

At 10:25 pm, police received a complaint regarding a backyard fire.  Police attended and advised the homeowner of the fire ban and they extinguished the fire.  No charges were laid as a result of this incident.

July 31st, 2021

At 10:45 pm, police received a complaint regarding a backyard fire.  Police attended and advised the individuals of the fire ban.  The fire was extinguished and no charges were laid as a result of this incident.

At 11:55 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding loud music.  Police attended and the music was turned down.  No charges were laid as a result of this incident.

August 1st, 2021

Police were dispatched to a residence regarding an on going neighbor dispute.  Police attended and helped mediate the situation.

At 8:20 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding yelling coming from the home.  Police attended and spoke to the residents who advised they had been arguing but had since calmed down.  No assaults occurred and no charges were laid as a result of this incident.

At 10:20 pm, police were dispatched to a residence for a noise complaint.  Police arrived and spoke to the homeowner who agreed to move the party inside for the night.  No charges were laid as a result of this incident.

August 3rd, 2021

While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle swerve within its lane several times.  Police conducted a traffic stop and observed an open bottle of alcohol on the floor in the backseat of the vehicle.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90 day driving suspension and a 30 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.
