During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Drive Without a Valid Driver’s License which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for Speeding (71 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $325
  • One ticket for Drive While Disqualified which carries a fine of $672 and a 30-day vehicle impound
  • Two written warnings

June 6th, 2022

On May 20, 2022, police received a report of a bike stolen from the Morden Bike-Share program. The bike, a grey unisex adult bike, has City of Morden decaling and has a number 2 on the front handlebars. The bike may be in another community, so if you see the bike outside of Morden please contact police to make a report.

June 7th, 2022

Police received a request from Child and Family Services to locate two youths who went missing from their residence.  Both youths were located by police and returned to Child and Family Services.

At 1:15 pm, police were dispatched to a local business regarding a suspicious vehicle driving around the parking lot.  Police attended and located the vehicle in a nearby parking lot.  The driver was speaking nonsensically to police and was transported to a healthcare facility for assessment.

June 8th, 2022

Police were dispatched to a local school regarding a female causing a disturbance.  Police attended and spoke to the suspect, who was banned from the property and was asked to stay away. Police received another call later in the day and learned the same suspect had approached people on the school grounds and was yelling at them.  Police attended and issued a ticket for trespassing which carries a fine of $672.

June 10th, 2022

Police received a report of a hit and run to a vehicle that occurred on June 6th while parked in a parking lot on the 300 block of Thornhill Street in Morden.  The driver parked her 2005 blue Honda Civic and returned to find damage on the rear bumper. 

Police received a report of a hit and run to a vehicle that occurred on June 8th between 10:00 am and 11:00 am while parked in the Co-op Grocery Store parking lot in Morden.  The driver parked her 2015 grey Chevrolet Sonic and returned to find damage on the driver’s side rear fender.

June 11th, 2022

At 12:20 am, police were dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of 12th Street regarding loud music.  Police attended and spoke to the homeowner who agreed to turn down the music.

June 14th, 2022

At 12:40 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an assault.  Police attended and spoke to the victim who advised that her husband had slapped her and punched her.  The 34 year old Morden resident was arrested and released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Court in September.

Police received a call regarding an intoxicated female who was walking on 4th Street.  The 26 year old female was quite intoxicated and had nowhere to stay.  She was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.  She was released without charges.

June 16th, 2022

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading.  The driver was issued a 15 day driving suspension and a $500 administrative penalty.

June 17th, 2022

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the vehicle.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90 day driving suspension and a 30 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty.

Police received a report of a vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of 11th Street and Thornhill Street.  The vehicle almost hit a pedestrian crossing the road.  Police are continuing their investigation.

June 18th, 2022

At 2:30 pm, police received a report of a stolen bike from a residence on Ens Crescent.  Police also received a report of a break and enter to a residence on Ens Crescent.  The suspect entered the home and took a key fob and a wallet.  The bike was located and returned to the owner and the wallet was located in a neighbors truck.  Police are continuing their investigation.

June 19th, 2022

While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle approach a stop sign with its left turn signal on.  The vehicle proceeded straight across the road rather than turning.  Police conducted a traffic stop and made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a fail reading.  The driver was issued a 90 day driving suspension and a 30 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty
