March 13th, 2023 – March 20th, 2023

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Disobey Traffic Control Device namely Stop Sign which carries a fine of $203
  • One By-Law ticket for Park Vehicle on Street between Midnight at 8am when Prohibited which carries a fine of $150
  • One ticket for Speeding (129 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone) which carries a fine of $429

March 15th, 2023

At 2:00 pm, police received a call regarding a possible impaired driver.  The caller advised that the vehicle was stuck on the side of the road partly in the ditch.  Police attended and observed the driver of the vehicle to be visibly impaired.  The accused was arrested but refused to get out of the vehicle and continued to attempt to move her vehicle.  She was removed from her vehicle and transported to the Morden Police Service to provide a breath sample.  The accused failed to provide a suitable sample and as a result the 52 year old Darlingford resident was charged with Operation While Impaired, Fail to Comply with Breath Demand and Resist Arrest.  The driver was issued a license suspension of 3 months along with a 60 day impoundment of the vehicle.  She will appear in Morden Provincial Court in May.

Police received a report of a hit and run to a vehicle that occurred on March 6th between 10am and 11am while parked in the Menzies Medical Centre parking lot.  The driver parked her 2014 red Ford Edge and returned to find damage to the front bumper and driver’s side front fender.

March 16th, 2023

At 9:50 am, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident which occurred at the intersection of Thornhill Street and 1st Street.  A black Honda Pilot was travelling west bound on Thornhill Street when it attempted to turn left onto 1st Street and was struck by a green Chrysler Pacifica travelling east bound on Thornhill Street.  There were no injuries because of this accident and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

At 5:25 pm, police were dispatched to a residence regarding an assault.  Police attended and spoke to the caller who advised that her husband threw a pan at her and kicked her and then left the residence.  The 30 year old Morden resident was later located and arrested for Assault.  He was released on an Undertaking to attend to Morden Provincial Court in May.
