October 10th, 2023 – October 16th, 2023

During this reporting period, MPS issued:

  • One ticket for Drive an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • Three tickets for Use a Cellular Telephone or other Handheld Device while Operating a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $672 and a three-day license suspension
  • Three tickets for Driver not Wearing a Seatbelt which carries a fine of $298
  • Two tickets for Failing to Move to a Further Lane when Passing an Emergency Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • Three tickets for Failing to Comply with Speed Requirements when Passing an Emergency Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
  • One ticket for Transport Liquor in a Motor Vehicle which carries a fine of $237
  • Five tickets for Speeding

October 10th, 2023

Police received a report of a female sending nude photos and videos of herself online to a male who was now requesting money or the videos and photos would be shared to social media.  Police advised the complainant this was a common scam in which the suspect would continue to attempt to extort payment in exchange for withholding the photo’s. Police advised the complainant to not send money and block this person.

Police received a Warrant of Arrest for Marilyn Lamini for Failing to Attend Court.

At 7:30 pm, police received a report of a bike stolen from a local business.  Police attended and were able to identify the suspect through the store’s video.  The bike was later recovered and returned to the owner who did not want to pursue charges for this theft. The suspect was subsequently banned from the business.

October 12th, 2023

At 1:40 pm, police were on general patrol when they observed two people walking down the street.  The male is known to police to have a condition to have no contact with the female.  The 28 year-old Morden resident was arrested for Failing to Comply with his Release Order.  He was released on an Appearance Notice to attend Morden Provincial Court in December.

October 14th, 2023

At 9:15 am, police received a report of a stolen vehicle from Parkview Place.  The caller advised that his vehicle was parked on the street in front of their residence and stolen sometime overnight along with items from another vehicle on the driveway. Police are continuing their investigation.

At 1:00 pm, police observed a vehicle belonging to a male who is known to be on conditions to not attend a residence where the vehicle was parked.  Police attended the residence and learned that the male was inside.  A 50 year-old male was arrested for Failing to Comply with his Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice to attend Morden Provincial Court in December.

While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle travelling at a fast rate of speed.  Police conducted a traffic stop and observed an open can of alcohol in the front passenger door and an open box in the back seat.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a 24-hour suspension.  The driver was also issued a ticket for speeding which carried a fine of $351, a ticket for fail to comply with license restrictions which carries a fine of $203, and a ticket for unlawful transportation of liquor in a motor vehicle which carries a fine of $237.

At 11:30 pm, police conducted a traffic stop and observed an odor of liquor coming from the vehicle.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading.  The driver was issued a 15-day driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $500 administrative penalty.

October 15th, 2023

At 1:30 am, police conducted a traffic stop and observed an odor of liquor coming from the vehicle.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading.  The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.

While on general patrol, police observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light and subsequently conducted a traffic stop.  Police detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver.  Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading.  The driver was issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.

October 16th, 2023

At 7:00 am, police received a call regarding an intoxicated female outside a building.  Police attended and observed the female to be highly intoxicated.  She was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober.
