Police respond to Break and Enter in progress

On September 5th, 2023 at approximately 11:20 pm, members of the Morden Police Service received a call from an individual advising that he had been followed by unknown individuals early in the evening and now someone was trying to break into his residence.   While police were responding to the residence, they observed a suspicious vehicle leaving the area in the distance and attempted to stop it.  The suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and was able to evade police.  The suspect vehicle was located a short time later and police observed it had collided with a tree.  There were no occupants in the vehicle and police observed a knife on the front driver seat.

The Morden Police Service K9 unit attended to the vehicle and began a search of the area.   PSD Ice and her handler began to track the suspect and the accused was located hiding in the grass near a creek.  The accused was taken into police custody and transported to the Morden Police Service.  Through a subsequent investigation, two other males were arrested by police in relation to the break and enter.

As a result of this investigation, a 18-year-old male resident of Morden is facing charges of Break and Enter, Wearing a Disguise with Intent, and Mischief.

A 19-year-old male resident of Morden is facing charges of Break and Enter, Wearing a Disguise with Intent and Mischief.

A 19-year-old male resident of the RM of Stanley is facing charges of Break and Enter, Wearing a Disguise with Intent, and Breach of a Probation Order.

All individuals were released on conditions to attend Morden Provincial Court in November.

Respectfully submitted,

Sean Aune, Inspector
